I loved the idea of trading with the Rockets because we were gonna get young players and picks in return. And once Dwight left, their team would have traded all their assets to get him, and the picks would have been great.

How do you know that's where they end up on this course though? In order to do a good job of rebuilding in the NBA, you have to get a top 2 or 3 pick, which right now is very possible for Orlando. I'd much rather suck and play the lottery than stay average for a long time with no title chances.

No one's banking on the lottery. But in order to build a contender, you have to be bad first, except in the case of striking gold in free agency, which you already said wasn't going to happen in Orlando.
Odds are in your quest to be a contender, you have to go through a phase where you actually make the playoffs and I don't believe the Magic will be doing that very often making moves like this. I don't see how you can't hope to be a contender while your in the playoffs?

First of all, you're completing overrating Horford and Teague if you think they're championship pieces. Like I said, we could have taken their offer, and competed for a 7th seed for awhile, with little room to get better, or we could take a chance and hope to draft well and build the team back up.
