The Magic walked away from Dwight Howard trade negotiations when the Nets had to come to a resolution with restricted free agent Brook Lopez.

The final offer Brooklyn put on the table for Orlando would have been Lopez, Kris Humphries at one-year, $9.6 million, MarShon Brooks and four unprotected first round picks for Howard, Jason Richardson, Chris Duhon and Earl Clark.
Lol at Orlando.

The Orlando Magic didnt even get the 3rd best player in this trade. That is pathetically sad...

Iggy is better in every aspect except shooting the three, and with the way Iggy was shooting the three in the Olympics I expect his numbers to go up there too.

He's the second best perimeter defender in the league behind LeBron. A great slasher, a good rebounder, a good creater for others. Afflalo can't match him in ANY of those areas.
Tony Allen would like to have a word with you

The Sixers got a hell of a deal, here.

As did the Lakers. Not having to part with Pau is laughable.

I'd honestly much rather have taken this deal than the Nets as a Magic fan. Getting stuck with Brook Lopez on a max contract? No thanks...

Final Nets offer Orlando rejected in July: Lopez, Humphries (1 year, $9.6M), Marshon Brooks, 4 unprotected No. 1's for Howard, JRich, Duhon, Clark.

If you would rather have Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic, Moe Harkless Josh McRoberts, Christian Eyenga and a bunch of shitty protected picks I'm not sure what to say.

You're acting like Orlando is a place FAs will want to go. It isn't. Orlando isn't MIA. Cap room will do you no good. The Magic need all the draft picks they can get.

Also, LMAO at taking Al Harrington's contract. They might as well have kept JRich.

And get stuck with Brook Lopez on a max for 4-5 years? No thanks. Al Harrington's contract is only half-guaranteed too, so it's not that bad. All those picks would have sucked too because Brooklyn would be a top 5 team with Dwight.

FA's won't want to go there? Tell that to Tracy McGrady...

Plus I don't get what the difference is between this deal and Brooklyn in terms of free agents. Humphries wouldn't resign, and they'd still have the same problem signing FA's that YOU say there is. Only difference is they'd be stuck with Brook Lopez.

I'm not saying this is a good deal. But it's better than Brooklyn's. We really couldn't have gotten much better.

You don't seem to get the NBA, either. Taking back Lopez and Humphries and Brooks? MAYBE we would have made the playoffs. But what's the point? Why not just take back young pieces, suck, and get a high draft pick to build around? What doesn't make sense about that....

I don't think the ATL ever actually offered it?

If you're talking about Teague and Horford, I know it was rumored, but I wouldn't have taken that anyways. Not that it's not a better offer in terms of talent than this one, but getting good players back and competing for the 7th seed is worthless. I'd rather suck and get a good draft pick.

I believe we did

and no way I'd allow another franchise big to go to the Lakers if I were the Magic. I would have took my chances with letting him try to in ATL with a team that's not nearly as experienced as the Lakers are. It's like hustling backwards for them.

Nowhere in that article does it say they offered it though, just that they talked about it, which I knew. Like they said, I would never trade him within the division.

If I had my choice he would have gone to Houston, but Houston was unwilling to take Turkoglu or Richardson in the deal, so we didn't want to do it.

Taking the Atlanta deal would have been fine from a talent perspective. But we would have been stuck in the same position Atlanta was in, but worse. Where you have no title hopes and your ceiling isn't very high and you're stuck in the same spot for awhile. I'd rather rebuild and get a good draft pick.

I would have loved to see what he could do in Houston, but not for what Morey was offering. We're building a foundation, and he wanted to completely deconstruct it for an obvious rental.
