CC, would you have taken offer from Rockets
I loved the idea of trading with the Rockets because we were gonna get young players and picks in return. And once Dwight left, their team would have traded all their assets to get him, and the picks would have been great.

But we didn't do it because the Rockets refused to take Turk/Rich back.

Nowhere in that article does it say they offered it though, just that they talked about it, which I knew. Like they said, I would never trade him within the division.

If I had my choice he would have gone to Houston, but Houston was unwilling to take Turkoglu or Richardson in the deal, so we didn't want to do it.

Taking the Atlanta deal would have been fine from a talent perspective. But we would have been stuck in the same position Atlanta was in, but worse. Where you have no title hopes and your ceiling isn't very high and you're stuck in the same spot for awhile. I'd rather rebuild and get a good draft pick.
So basically you'd rather slowly get to where the Hawks are than immediately get to where the Hawks are. I feel you..

How do you know that's where they end up on this course though? In order to do a good job of rebuilding in the NBA, you have to get a top 2 or 3 pick, which right now is very possible for Orlando. I'd much rather suck and play the lottery than stay average for a long time with no title chances.

You don't seem to get the NBA, either. Taking back Lopez and Humphries and Brooks? MAYBE we would have made the playoffs. But what's the point? Why not just take back young pieces, suck, and get a high draft pick to build around? What doesn't make sense about that....
LOL.

Good luck following the OKC model with the mediocre picks you guys got. You guys didn't even get Bynum which makes 0 sense. You claim you didn't want to be stuck with Lopez on a max deal but when players like Eric Gordan are getting max deals, Asik is getting 25 mil, etc. a max for a young talented 7 footer is a small price towards building a team.

Just because you're in the lottery doesn't mean you'll get a great pick. Definitely doesn't mean you're going to get a great player. At least with Al Horford you knew you had an all-star player to build with, now you just have the chance to do things. I'd definitely take proven players over unproven ones.

Why would we have tried for Bynum? He was adamant that he wouldn't sign a contract extension in Orlando, otherwise this trade would have happened months ago. And sure, maybe for the Nets, who are TRYING (not very well) to build a contender, they had to give him a max to keep him. But would that contract be a good one for the MAGIC to have? Fuck no. We need to rebuild, and taking back that shit contract would have just hampered us. You seem to have no knowledge of how to build a team.

And you say we're trying to build the OKC model with the picks that we got, yeah. But you're also completely forgetting our own picks, which will be good, hopefully. We'll see what happens in that regard.

Hahahahaha why the fuck would I be bitter? My team is making moves towards winning unlike yours. The Magic will suck dick for at least the next 5 years.
Moves towards winning? Sure. Have fun watching every season knowing that as long as LeBron is in Miami and healthy and Nets will never make an NBA Finals.

So you'd rather be a 7th seed for years than rebuild and hope to build a contender? That is so idiotic of you...

No one's banking on the lottery. But in order to build a contender, you have to be bad first, except in the case of striking gold in free agency, which you already said wasn't going to happen in Orlando.

What don't you get about that?

The Brooklyn trade sucked in so many ways for the Magic. Stop being fucking bitter.

Bitter ass Nets fans >>>>. I can't wait to see Domerocker post in this topic.

Odds are in your quest to be a contender, you have to go through a phase where you actually make the playoffs and I don't believe the Magic will be doing that very often making moves like this. I don't see how you can't hope to be a contender while your in the playoffs?

I mean I'd rather having a winning team and try to bring in the pieces to be a contender than have no pieces and the hope to find something to begin building around.

First of all, you're completing overrating Horford and Teague if you think they're championship pieces. Like I said, we could have taken their offer, and competed for a 7th seed for awhile, with little room to get better, or we could take a chance and hope to draft well and build the team back up. Considering you thought that Atlanta was doing the right move signing Joe Johnson to that ludicrous deal, I don't expect you to understand what's going on here. Just trust me bud, they did the right thing in taking back young players/picks and rebuilding.

I don't see why anyone is arguing that the Magic should have even considered trading Dwight within the division but that's just me...

Counterproductive as fuck.

Lol we're still talking about Joe Johnson? Ya'll are reviving the Lakers here and arguably making them the best team in the league while receiving not even the third best player in the deal. I just don't think I would take "hope" over an all-star player.

I mean I understand that getting picks is great and all, having young players to build with is good. I'm just saying it's going to take a lot longer to build that route than to build with young players that already have established themselves and have potential! There's not a GM that wouldn't want a player like Horford on their team. Don't you think he'd actually be loyal to your team and stick around? Weren't Dwight and Shaq both the types of players you hoped to get and take you to a championship? Ya'll have just as many rings as the Hawks over the past decade and ya'll had the most dominant center in the game today..
