Bass, Lee, and LAC 1st for Asik.

I'll take it; we don't need Lee and his contract and we keep Green

It'll be hilarious if that's what goes down, because we just discussed that idea lol.

Hopefully this means we get to cut Ronnie Brewer, because he's useless.

The Houston Rockets can trade Omer Asik on Friday and still re-trade anyone acquired before Feb. 20, but they will continue to operate under their self-imposed Thursday deadline.

If the Rockets are unable to agree to terms on a trade, they will reset trade talks entirely.

The Rockets' strong preference is to trade Asik by the end of Thursday, but appear willing to blow up negotiations.

The Rockets and Boston Celtics have moved closest to a deal.

the lakers also asked about a pau/asik deal. lol. because pau and dwight worked so well last year

I doubt the Lakers and Houston have actually seriously talked about that. I think it's the media trying to throw something together for buzz because of Morey's interest in Pau two years ago.

This, but I wonder if somebody other than MikeBrown/D'antoni atrocity can make it work better.

If I'm the Rockets, I just trade him for a draft pick and expirings, and try to make a bigger move in the off-season with draft picks & Terrence Jones.

But if Thad Young is on the board, that's still a no brainer to me.

His value is only going to continue to tumble. Should have dealt him right after signing Howard, instead of trying to get cute and using them together, because it was obvious that was not going to work, and now teams know they absolutely have to deal him. Morey out thought himself on this one.

Between TJones and Thad Young the no brainer, imo, is to keep the developing player and not trade for the somewhat inconsistent finished product who we have no idea if he'd even fit with Howard all that well.

elcheato, you're going on a "better player, currently" ideal when we're still developing Terrence Jones. Jones can score in many ways and finishes very well at the hoop.

Jones current downswing is due to a bout with the flu. He'll be fine.

Who said anything about not keeping Jones? And has he had the flu for all of December? He doesn't have to start at PF to develop.

Thaddeus Young is good, cap friendly contract, has never played with the kind of talent Houston has, and still has always been a solid player. Not to mention he's only 25, so you're not exactly trading for a veteran with an immovable contract. You develop Jones in a back up role of around 20-25 minutes a game, and if he's fully ready to take over next year, then you can deal Thad the following year, who would still be valuable around the league.

It's a move to win now, and you're still looking toward the future.

The only problem is right now he takes more mid range jumpers than the Rockets team as a whole, but that philosophy is hit hard from top to bottom within the Houston organization and he'd get the message. He'd thrive in Houston's up tempo offense.

He means how it's being handled. Rockets seemingly unwilling to deal or give up, when they should, and they keep waiting, and eventually they'll get next to nothing. They have no leverage, and they're going to continue to have no leverage.

At least I think that's what he means

Rockets, Nets Briefly Discussed Deron Williams For Asik, Lin Trade
Dec 23, 2013 12:35 PM EST

The Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets discussed a trade of Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik for Deron Williams.

Sources also confirmed the report to Howard Beck of Bleacher Report.

"Nothing came of it. ... seems dead," said a source.

Dwight Howard was long tied to teaming up with Williams as a member of the Nets.

Do the Nets not realize they don't have their pick till 2019? Why would they make that deal; doesn't make them any better

This. They'd get a fill in starter at C and a PG who plays as bad of defense and isn't as consistent scoring the ball. The only upgrade is defensive effort at PG, but that doesn't seem to help Lin at all. He still sucks.

Houston gets an overrated PG who can't stay healthy and doesn't play defense, anyway.

I'm seriously wondering if Houston needs to consider "starting" Harden at the 1 and just letting him handle the ball.
