The Houston Rockets continue to plan on trading Omer Asik by Dec. 19, so they can possibly package any acquired players in a deal before the NBA's Feb. 20 deadline.
Many insiders believe that the Rockets' top target remains Paul Millsap of the Atlanta Hawks.
The Hawks signed Millsap to a two-year, $19 million deal in the offseason, which is considered one of the NBA's best bargains.

We just found a potential stud for a stretch four in Jones. Start looking for PG, Daryl. Seriously, man. I'll love it if we add Millsap, but start looking for a position we actually need, dammit.

You're off the Patrick Beverly bandwagon that fast?

It's also kind of interesting that Ryan Anderson and Ersan Ilysavoa are off the table. Goes to show how much stretch bigs who have other skills aside from jump shooting are worth in todays NBA.

I'm not, but I'd rather lose him that Terrence Jones.

Reading the article, they mentioned "maybe Terrence Jones" is went, as well. I will flip shit if Morey trades Jones, or anyone from the starting 5, for that matter.

I disagree. Jones hasn't shown any ceiling. I watch the team. He's a good player who's only going to get better.

Add Boston to the list of teams interested in Asik.

While strong rumbles persist that the Philadelphia 76ers are the team most likely to go along with such an arrangement, given the close ties between Rockets general manager Daryl Morey and Philly counterpart Sam Hinkie, there's fresh talk in circulation about another potential co-conspirator.

The Boston Celtics.

The advice offered to us on Sunday was stern: Keep an eye on Boston. The Celtics possess two players in different salary ranges that would presumably fit in useful ways next to Dwight Howard: Jeff Green and Brandon Bass. The Celts also have a spare first-round draft pick or two to plug into any trade equation to sweeten the deal for Houston, amid rising suspicions around the league that Morey’s Rockets are going to find a way to come out of the Asik saga with at least one future first.

The same Rockets who happen to have a GM (Morey) and coach (Kevin McHale) who have long-standing relationships with Celts president Danny Ainge.

So, yes, I’d say you should keep an eye on Boston.

I will punch Danny Ainge in the dick if he moves a first for Asik. Or Jeff Green.

If Houston wants to do Brandon Bass with Marshon Brooks, I'd be fine with that. We have Sully at PF, so Bass is expendable. I dont like Asik, but he fills a need. But if we move anyone with actual value/picks for fucking Linguini, imma be pissed

Jeff Green would be a lot of fun in Houston, but is he big enough to fill Jones' role? Obviously Jones isn't a better player, but he's been blocking a lot of shots and getting a lot of rebounds and taking some pressure off of Dwight. Can Green do that?

A lot of people say that Young is unequivocally better than Jones, but I think Jones, as he develops, has a chance to be more consistent, and is a better defender.

Morey can trade Asik for another bench piece but we've finally found a starting lineup that works and if he busts it up trying to fix what isn't broken I'm going to be absolutely livid. There's no point in trading Terrence Jones if you can't get a player who can complement Howard as well or better as Terrence does. I honestly don't know if Green or Young would, especially on the defensive end. I'm very intrigued by the prospect of Millsap, but I just don't expect that to happen.

On the topic of Boston, I'd take Bass and Lee for Asik, and we'd probably have to throw in one more bench piece from our end, obviously, but Lee would give us the perimeter defender we need, and Bass would be a great backup at 4.

I don't think he's on the table because Houston loves his potential, but I really really like the thought of DMo playing in Boston, especially after Rondo returns.

I would trade Lee and Bass for Asik; gets rid of Court's contract since we dont need him with JCraw/Rondo/Bradley

And though you don't like Asik, I personally guarantee he'd change your defense for the better. You might end up cutting him right away, but maybe we could send Ronnie Brewer, too. Just so we don't have to release him, haha.

Brewer can't be traded; 60 day rule

I know Asik would be an upgrade; we're starting Faverani lol. I just wouldnt want to trade an asset for him like a pick, Bradley, Green, Rondo, JCraw, Sully, etc..

not wanting to trade assets, which is my case with Jones. Morey's drafted so many 4s, and yet when he gets a good one, he trades him. I thought we had the perfect stretch four last year in Marcus Morris, but Daryl just swapped him. I don't want him to do that with Jones, too.

Boston needs to worry more about putting shooters around their post players, not moving their post players for a player(s) without that skill set. The only team who uses the post more for their offense is Memphis, at 16%. Boston uses the post in 14% of their shots.

They are one of the teams that still truly run their offense inside-out, and their are two ways to do that. Driving inside, or posting up inside. That's not to say Boston is a team that ends their possessions in the post, rather than a start them in the post, facilitate the offense from the post. So drive and kick, or post up. Who's the best on Boston's roster at doing both of those things? Has to be Jeff Green, which means he is very valuable to Boston and what they want to do offensively. For what reason would they want to move that?

Boston uses the post for cutting and spot up attempts, and that makes up 23.1% of their offense, which is more than a run the PnR.
