That Luger comparison is pretty good. Spend 6 months building a guy up with fan support only to kill it by pitting him against (arguably) the top babyface who fighting through injury (Hart's was storyline, Bryan's was real).

I wonder why neither got/is getting completely over with fans.

Their look and power style gets the fans intruiged, but after a while they want to see some kind of character development or personality, but usually big guys who get over based on their look don't have that, because they use their look to get over in the first place. Brock Lesnar is the exception but he is an anomoly. Don't think the E has had a better athlete than him and people just marvel at him. And Brock is underrated in terms of how people view his on screen personality. He did a lot of entertaining non-wrestling stuff.

Roman really doesn't look as big as he is either, so that doesn't help

We noted before that there were plans to elevate the WWE United States Title and the Intercontinental Title after WrestleMania. Vince is reportedly on board with the idea of having Lesnar retain, Cena take the US Title from Rusev and either Sheamus or Daniel Bryan win the IC Title Ladder Match. However, its still not confirmed what Sheamus WrestleMania role will be. It looks like Dean Ambrose will be getting in on the chase for one of these titles as hes reportedly in line for a heavy push going into SummerSlam.

On a related note, MetsFan noted that Reigns is being compared to Lex Luger and his push in 1993-1994 in the sense that Luger was pushed big time but never got over like WWE wanted as the time. Vince ended up getting behind the fan favorite Bret Hart and Luger ended up on the midcard.

Dean Ambrose been in the chase for how long now lol.

'That Royal Rumble finish was a test to see if Luger would be still be over even if he won against Hart and they boo him when they raised his hand and popped for Bret when they raised his hand. Down the chain Luger went.

Right. They probably knew that'd be the case, though. So if they really wanted Luger to go over, why even bother putting him against Hart? And also, fwiw, they still popped pretty hard when they originally said Luger won.

That leaves 7 matches on the actual card. Either there are gonna be some long ass matches, or they're bracing for Undertaker and Wyatt's elongated entrances.

What would be hilarious is if roman won, Seth came to cash in, and Vince McMahon's music hit.

"No cash in. Need to make roman look strong!"

He's going to look pretty strong when he buries Rollins and his brief case after beating Lesnar clean.

Interesting. It could be argued he needed the win more than the others, so it makes some sense.

I wonder if he does the GTS during the battle royal lol
