Everything you wrote just makes it clear that you don't understand anything. First off, we never tried to move up from 16. The plan was to take Jaylen third if we didn't trade the pick and then draft two Euros that we could stash away with the other picks. We didn't trade away the pick (because lol Chicago was asking for a ransom) so we took Jaylen.
And it's hardly an overdrafting -- he has the highest peak potential among those drafted after the Top 2. He might not be as ready as some like Dunn, but after looking at these Summer League games we definitely made the right decision. Jaylen's on ball defense has been very good, as he forces a lot of turnovers defensively as well as contesting shots fairly well. And offensively he leads all those in Summer League in FT attempts despite missing two games. He's not a great shooter but he's hitting more and more as we go. And knowing the fact that we are overly crowded at the guard position with Isaiah, Avery, Smart, and Rozier it makes perfect sense to target the SF over the PG. I can guarantee you've looked zero at Jaylen Brown and are just going off media expectations. Nice -- I can't wait for you to be wrong as fuck.
As for Westbrook, I've said this many times. He's a UFA. Nobody is going to trade for him without the assurance that he'll stay. I'd be incredibly shocked if he wanted to play on a Lakers team with Luol Deng and Jordan Clarkson as his best teammates (the Lakers wouldn't have the cap to sign anybody else). You have to find a team that is willing to give up assets yet would have Westbrook re-sign with them as well. It's a very short list, and that's why Boston's offer is currently at the top. I've said already it's not the best package teams could offer, but Westbrook isn't signing a max contract in Minnesota bruh. OKC knows he won't re-sign (otherwise they aren't trading him, period) so they aren't going to let him walk for zero value. And teams aren't going to give up their stars unless he'll re-sign.
Bradley, Smart, Jaylen, and both BKN picks are about as good as you'll get for him, unless he for some reason wants to play in Minnesota (contradicting his desire for a big market) or the Lakers (contradicts his competitive drive)
But please, continue on being so ignorant. Obviously Boston "wins" that trade. But OKC is in a tough situation and is going to have to sell Westbrook for less than what he's worth
I do think Minnesota is going to become a bigger basketball market with so many great pieces in place, and Minneapolis/St. Paul is a rather large metro. The only reason to not want to be in Minneapolis is if you hate the cold, which he might. It ain't that cold there, either, though. They're far enough south that they're out of the frigid areas by the border.
But like I said, I don't want to see Westbrook on the Wolves at the cost it'd take to get him. I say let these young kids develop.
