They're in the playoff hunt. They're not going to consider trading Whiteside for guys I've never heard of and virtually worthless draft picks just because he's a free agent at the end of the year.
exactly

8:50PM: The Raptors are interested, but have yet to make a serious offer, one source tells NetsDaily.
7:49PM: The Nets are willing to deal Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young despite the franchise still being in the process of hiring a general manager, several league executives told Frank Isola of the New York Daily News.
One potential deal, according to Isola, involves Young being traded to the Raptors in exchange for Patrick Patterson and Delon Wright. The Raptors own the Knicks’ 2016 first round draft pick and that may be part of the package, Isola adds. It was recently reported that Nets owner Mikhail  Prokhorov is not 100% committed to retaining Lopez and Young. The Raptors are reportedly looking to add a power forward and Young’s name has already been attached to Toronto in that capacity.
Lopez landed a three-year deal for the max this past summer despite his history of foot problems. His contract contains only conditional guarantees for next season and 2017/18 based on the health of his right foot. Young, a ninth-year veteran, re-signed with the Nets this past summer on a four-year, $50MM deal. Young has enjoyed a solid season and is averaging 15.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game.

The Heat definitely want value back for Hassan but they're not gonna get it so they'll ride it out with him. As a fan it sucks that he'll walk for nothing, but I'm also glad we're not gonna be the ones paying him the max.

Is "your people" Frank Isola?

Its hardly likely to happen. Howard makes $22.4M, and Whiteside makes $981K. Heat would have to add Deng, Anderson, and Udrih to the deal, and I'm not sure they move those pieces without more return than just Dwight

The Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly pursuing a trade of Blake Griffin with a report arriving they offered a package to the Denver Nuggets.

"I've been told the Clippers actually called Denver and offered Blake Griffin and Lance Stephenson for Danilo Gallinari, Kenneth Faried, Will Barton and Nikola Jokic. Denver turned it down because Blake will be a free agent after next season. Plus they like some of those young kids."

Well no shit Cleveland declined the deal

The Celtics deals aren't predicated on immediate success. There is nobody on the Celtics roster that pushes a team to a title. Its a deal marketed around rebuild, where you can get a potential phenom in Ben Simmons, as well as other young players who show very good potential.

Obviously that is a shit deal for Cleveland. I think the intent is to try to get a 3rd team, one who has talent but is in rebuild-mode, and ship the picks there. Thats what they tried to do with the Knicks as the third team, but Melo wasn't going to remove his NTC for Cleveland. Maybe Houston emerges as the 3rd team for the deal, but you're putting the deal in a poor perspective. What Boston is offering is not a bad deal, unless you are already heavy Playoff contenders, like Cleveland.

It has very little to do with a no trade clause. The Cavs weren't going to trade Kevin Love for essentially just Melo.
