Sure you can. They're your inferiors. You're the boss--you make the call. Perhaps you can't force Harden to play good defense, but you can force him to put forth an effort.

If I'm Kevin McHale, I sit James' ass if the same old same old bullshit happens next season early on. This team underachieves in large part due to Harden's one way habits. He can save you with his offense in one game, doom you with an awful defensive play in the next (see Lillard's open 3).

Coaches don't have balls anymore. Too many head coaches spend more time catering to their players than actually having the guts to demand more out of them. See: Frank Vogel. Great coach, but not a disciplinarian and Indiana was too young to not have a hardass somewhere on that bench.

How are the players inferior to the coach if they get paid more? Serious question.

Holy crap, OKC had 24 possessions in game 6 without a SINGLE pass.

Take a wild guess who 17 of those possessions belonged too?

A coach's position is one of authority. As long as that is the case, coaches are the superiors. And they should be. Do we really want the highest level of basketball teaching youngsters to not listen to coaches? I sure as hell don't.

The best thing that could happen to James Harden is for McHale to sit him on the bench and show him that Houston can still win ball games. James needs to play defense and to suggest that McHale can't force him to at least put forth an effort is laughable.

But as we've seen time and time again, unless you're someone like Pop or Doc, if your best players don't wanna listen to you, they're not going to and there's not a damn thing you can do about it, you're gonna get fired.

Star players have all the power because they're the most valuable thing in the NBA.  You can replace your coach, your GM, and your owner, but you ain't replacing your superstar.

Which is a HUGE reason there's no parity in the NBA. There need to be a shift in power.

If you make more money, you're not "the inferior". That's not how the world of business works.

I laugh most of the time I read bwares tangents now, because 90% of the time they're completely off base and hilarious

There's some rumor going around that LeBron enrolled his kids into an Akron school for next year. Not that it means anything, as athletes don't always live in the same city as their kids.

Question

Why do the pistons have a gm if svg is in charge of bball opps?

This happens in other sports too
Like the cubs and white sox have big name presidents, theo and kenny williams,,but also GMs

So they literally aren't strapped with everything at all times. Their GM is basically an assistant GM, just a bigger name role and higher pay
