Seen Curtis Granderson is going to the Mets? on facebook. Haven't looked to see if it's true but assuming it is

I see it's been confirmed that Cabrera will be back to first base and Castellanos will be starting at third. I sure hope he's ready to go. I don't know, this team is going to be a little different. Better defense, little less offense but a bit more speed on the bases. As of right now at least. Not really sure what to think of the team where it stands right now.

Dombrowski said he doesn't plan to sign any more FAs.
If that is the case, I really think we have a less talented team overall than we did last year. idk

He said the same thing right before he signed Prince. Doubt he's actually done.

Yeah, I'm feeling the same way. Something about the team seems real uncertain to me, like they've taken some steps back. So we got a guy struggling offensively at SS, an unproven guy starting at third, Drew Smyly in the starting rotation which I'm kinda iffy about still, even though I think he can do it. This team needed some improvements and I'm not sure the bullpen is any better, other than closer. I see too many questions, I don't know. I really don't understand this team right now. I'm having a hard time getting a read on the team. If Dombrowski truly thinks this team right now is capable of winning the world series in 2014, I don't know, I can't see it right now, but who knows. Maybe he'll look like a genius in the end.

Just feel like we lack an identity. I mean last couple years you knew we were going to live and die by the homerun and starting pitching. Now it's like IDK what we are getting lol.

Things have a different feel, because of the changes, but I don't see it as necessarily as downgrading. Losing Prince does leave a hole that needs to be filled to protect Miggy, which is probably another bat that we will bring in. If not, it's not crazy to think that someone, on the current roster, can step up and be that protection for Miggy, but it also brings in the addition of Ian Kinsler, who is a quality player on offense, and defense. Although, he had a down year, having him in the lead-off spot, presumably, is an improvement over Jackson. I didn't mind Jackson too much in the lead-off spot, but I liked what he did moved down in the lineup. I know the uncertainty because of giving 3B to Nick Castellanos, having Iggy for a full season at SS, a new 2B, and Miggy moving back to 1B. Along with adding an unknown utility player, along with having probably not the greatest confidence in the backup C. Added on top of that is adding one of our best bullpen arms, to the rotation, along with losing our 4th starter, who is better than the majority of the 4th starters in the league. Keeping Porcello instead, it may seem that the bottom of the rotation is weaker now, and that the bullpen took a hit without Smyly. The farm system for the Tigers doesn't have the best ratings, yet I see time and time again players come up and contribute, and do well. Joe Nathan helps bolster the bullpen, and resigning Benoit would be ideal, and I'm happy with how the bullpen would look.

This team was bound to have a new identity, with a new manager, and almost completely new coaching staff. I see this teams identity as less live and die by the home run, and more getting hits. We have players that won't always take it deep, but can knock one into the gap for a double, or a triple, with occasionally leaving the yard, and believe it or not, stealing bases. I see a better defense, a more secure bullpen, and the pitching dominance still there.

Apparently the M's made a big offer to Cano.

That's so fucking dumb. Why would you pay somebody over 200 mil just to be an average team.

Jack Z logic.

Mariners just need to go balls to the wall and sign Choo for 100+ million. Make it rain. They'd be my favorite team.

Scherzer? Or something else?
An OF maybe. Doubt we pay Choo before Cabrera/Scherzer get extensions.

A think Beltran's more realistic. Give him something similar to what Torii got.
