Marlins just said "fuck it doe" this off-season

Imagine opening up a new ballpark in Miami with three Latin superstars to appeal to a Latin fanbase

They picked the right year to go after the big guns.. The Yankees had no interest in 1st baseman, shortstops and closers.

saw this on twitter lol:
With Hanley Ramirez, Jose Reyes, and Albert Pujols., the Marlins next big signing will have to be a translator.

A ten year deal for a 31 one year old player at that amount of money, isn't worth it for anyone imo lol.
if you have to suck it up for the last 3 years, fine. But you have to go for it. Opening up a new park, right near the city -- you need to lure people to the game. You got young talent there like Josh Johnson & Mike Stanton, and you bring in 2 stars and a closer in his prime. Right now would be your best shot at WS, and if you win it in 2012 or 2013, you draw in a TON of fans over the next decade. Its a risk you have to make.

Suppose you are right.
I still wouldn't give him TEN years though. I'd draw the line at like 8.

You see the way the Yankees are regretting A-Rod right now.

But 8 wouldn't cut it if St. Louis already offered him 9 at $22M per year. You have to top it.

Its a risk you have to take when starting out in a new location, new uniforms, new stadium, new fan market.

Was unaware St. Louis offered him a 9 year.
Well damn, I guess they'd have to go for it then, yeah.

Yep, they offered him a 9 year contract prior to 2011 season. From what I've heard it was about $22M per year which isn't even close to league best, which he deserves. In fact, I'd rather pay him $30M a year for 7 years (210M) and maybe throw in a mutual 8th year Option.

Same cash, less years committed. But yeah, as for what STL offered him, he didn't like the annual amount and they didn't offer a NTC. He wants more $$ (probably $25M per at min.) and that NTC.

If Miami can get him and not give up the NTC, they could very well just trade him 4 years and be a-ok.

I dont see why if Hanley wont play 3B, Reyes wont be asked to play 2B or 3B

Just heard on the news that Brandon Inge was in a 6 car wreck earlier today but no serious injuries so that's good.

I don't get why any player should have a problem with switching positions. You make way too much money. Suck it up and learn a new position.

Your contract does not specify what position you play, nor is it set in stone. Deal with it.
