Dyess I think would take a smaller deal. I think Frye should too, he hasn't shown much past his rookie season. I'd think splitting the MLE with Frye and Dyess would be fine.

and he just won a title. how often do guys who come off a title all of a sudden have their confidence raised?

Yeah he got paid to be a backup, and that's what he is. No harm no foul.

He can play the 2, the Mavs aren't going to bring him in to be a big time scorer. He can defend the SG well, still get out on the break and get to the rim. He can hit an open jumper.

They have virtually no back-ups.
Starting Dyess/Gooden then have the other one off the bench that you don't start.
