Because he was asked if he is staying.
The Hawks are smart to bring him back, having JJ and Crawford as the starting back court really isnt what they want. Crawford off the bench is the better option. Give him quality mins and he could be that scoring spark off the bench.Mike Bibby has agreed to a three-year deal with the Hawks, according to two sources close to the situation. The new deal is worth $18 million, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Bibby averaged 14.9 points, 5.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds last season for the Hawks, who won 47 games and advanced to the second round for the first time in over a decade.
Partial MLE isnt bad at all, especially if he agrees to it, but I do think he should go and sign with a contender, so we can let our young talent develop. The Knicks spent nearly all day and night with Grant Hill on Monday, ending it with a contract offer.
The New York Post is reporting that the offer is for one-year and is worth a portion of the club's mid-level exception.
"We think we have a chance, but you never know," a team source said of landing the free-agent forward.
Hill has been linked to the Suns and Celtics as well.
"You want to have players who've had a lot of success before so they can show the other players how to do it," Knicks president Donnie Walsh told The Post. "That's the kind of player we want to bring in."
Exactly what I said would happen. This makes them the 4 team in the East for sure. The Hawks are smart to bring him back, having JJ and Crawford as the starting back court really isnt what they want. According to an executive whose team is interested in David Lee, Lee's agent Mark Bartelstein is seeking $12 million per season for his client.
The Knicks have yet to make a formal offer but hope to re-sign the forward to a deal averaging between $7 million and $8 million per season.
"So many people are throwing so much stuff out there, it's not something I would ever talk about publicly," Bartelstein said about negotiations.
Howard Beck of the New York Times described Bartelstein as frustrated that his client was still in limbo.
"It's a shame David's not done yet. The Knicks have the ability to get him signed. The other teams don't, because they don’t know if the Knicks will match or not, or go through a sign-and-trade," Bartelstein said.
The Knicks may not be interested in being part of a sign-and-trade deal for Lee unless they receive a significant talent back.

If he's not going for the whole MLE then I'd sign him with our last 2-4mill.With Rasheed Wallace committing to the Boston Celtics last week, teams have turned their attention to the services of Brandon Bass.
“We’ve narrowed it down to about two or three teams,” said Bass’s agent Tony Dutt. “Orlando has shown a lot of interest, Detroit is another option, and Portland is up there as well. We’re expecting something to get done in the next couple days.”
While he wouldn’t pinpoint the exact amount his client is looking for, Dutt did say he doesn’t believe Bass will sign for a team’s full mid-level exception. “While I think he’s worth it, it doesn’t look like he’s going to get that kind of money. It’s a different market these days and guys are signing for a lot less.”
One factor holding up Bass from signing has been Antonio McDyess. “A lot of the teams are waiting to see what McDyess will do,” adds Dutt. “They’ve shown interest in him and want to wait for him to make a decision first.”
With McDyess rumored to be San Antonio bound, Bass could reach a deal with one of these suitors as early as Thursday.

I'd only really like this if we traded Max and Kwame for Chandler...Then it'd be basically trading Kwame for Chandler. If he's not going for the whole MLE then I'd sign him with our last 2-4mill.
Only reason I wouldn't mind it is because it's be so cheap. But I see what your saying, Bass is just another Jason Maxiell.I'd only really like this if we traded Max and Kwame for Chandler...Then it'd be basically trading Kwame for Chandler.
If we didn't make that trade we'd be stuck with Bass 6'8" and Maxiell 6'7"... Although I don't see Bass signing with us.Only reason I wouldn't mind it is because it's be so cheap. But I see what your saying, Bass is just another Jason Maxiell.
Exactly what I was going to say. We need to go after a bigger big man than him, someone taller.Only reason I wouldn't mind it is because it's be so cheap. But I see what your saying, Bass is just another Jason Maxiell.
The Boston Celtics announced Wednesday that they have signed free agent center/forward Rasheed Wallace.
Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Chandler is a lot better defensively then Kwame. Was a double-double guy two years ago. Bass and Max are essentially the same player. Chandler>Kwame, Bass=Max. Although I doubt any of this happens. If McDyess doesn't return, Detroit won't have much of a choice to have 2 undersized PF's.
Trading Max and Kwame for Chandler would leave us with Chandler and Bass. Which I think could be just as bad.
