So you just traded KG and Ray Allen for a half season of Dwight Howard and Hedo's bad contract, good idea.

The Mavericks honestly don't have a horse in the race. Trading for him is out of the question which means that he would have to sign there in the off-season. Why would he want to go to Dallas to play with Dirk when the rest of the roster would be gutted? Having D-Will, Dirk, and Dwight is financially impossible unless D-Will and Dwight both take massive pay-cuts so that trio isn't a real possibility.
Im saying from the perspective that Dwight would like to get traded to the Mavericks. So if he is willing to get traded to that team, then he might also be willing to sign with them after the season. The Mavericks plan might not necessarily be to get Dwight AND D-will. Maybe just one of them, because I dont think its possible for both.

Knowing the fact that our current roster wont win it all, I see no reason not to.

KG and Ray probably wont be re-signed anyways, so I'd rather take the chance on Dwight re-signing (which he might, since Dwight's only real other option is the Nets)

Like who do you think Dwight would be rather with?

Hedo
Pierce
Rondo
Jajuan
Bradley

or

Deron
Marshon
Lopez (maybe at PF)
Petro
Farmar
Shawne Williams
Morrow

?

I truly don't know. Rondo is a great distributor, Pierce is still a good scorer and leader. Ray loves Boston, he could possibly come back on a veteran minimum salary. Or KG.

Deron is a great scorer and passer; Dwight clearly likes him a good amount. Brooks is young, but he has great potential (Mini Mamba). Lopez is an above average player; not sure how well he could play PF though; he's not all that good defensively.

I'd take the Nets when you add in a top 5 pick in this draft.

Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard has asked the front office to pursue 16-year veteran and Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash, according to CBS Sports.

Sources close to the situation say that Howard will not exercise his early termination option if the Magic are able to acquire Nash.

Howard made headlines prior to the season when he requested that the Magic trade him. Prior to that demand, the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year stated that if Orlando is unable to surround him with a championship caliber team, that he would opt out of his existing contract and become a free-agent this offseason. The Magic made the decision not to move Howard in December with the hopes that they could convince him to stay.

For the Suns, Nash is averaging 13.9 points and 10.9 assists per game. The Magic’s Dwight Howard is averaging 19.9 points, 15.2 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game.

It's too bad the Magic have no assets whatsoever, outside of Anderson.

If Orlando does trade Dwight to the Nets, it'll certainly be part of at least a three-team deal.

The Suns do however have a few bad contracts, so getting rid of one or two of those along with Nash could be enticing to the Suns, you never know. Could set them up in a nice rebuild mode.

but they would have to take bad contracts right back from the magic. Magic don't have any room to take on bad contracts.

Not necessarily.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7yd7dle

They'd basically have Nelson and Redick as expiring deals along with Anderson's, and those are also two guys (Nelson and Redick) that would get a little interest at the trade deadline next year.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=85w7gge

Or something like that. Suns get rid of two bad contracts and get back a bunch of half year deals and other deals that would be expirings in half a years time.

Suns could obviously get a few firsts back from Orlando too, but those wouldn't be too valuable.

suns and orlando wont make a deal, and dwight wont want to stay with nash either.

orlando and golden state may be talking a monta deal though. but i still dont see that happening or dwight staying with monta added to that team.

My impression was they were discussing a three team deal with GS and NJ.

It doesn't matter either way. The Suns won't trade Nash unless he requests a trade (he won't, according to him). GSW wants to deal for Howard without any assurance of him re-upping at the end of the season. So why would they trade Ellis to Orlando?

I saw a stat the other day that says that the Warriors are actually better with Monta OFF the court in the past three years than they are with him on it.

“I’d say everybody in the league has called us. …but this late, it’s six to eight,” Smith said before the Magic faced the Toronto Raptors on Monday night.

Smith said there was “nothing new to report” about Howard’s situation….

“We still have a ways to go. It’s early,” he said. “Usually nothing gets done until the 15th.”

I keep hearing that Howard to Golden State is picking up steam, but the Warriors will pull out at the last minute. Same thing they did with the Hornets, deal was basically done twice and they pulled out at the last minute.
