On Friday, Detroit Tigers catcher Alex Avila reported teammate Miguel Cabrera had dropped 20-25 pounds this offseason as he prepares to move back to third base in 2012.

Now there is some visual evidence of Cabrera's transformation courtesy of Radhi Muhammad, the strength and conditioning specialist for 4.40 Fitness at Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Magglio looks pretty damn good too. IDK why we don't just run him as a DH this season.

Cabby with 4 stolen bases this year now, watch out lol

I'm not counting out the Magglio option until he's somewhere else.

I'd be alright with him coming back, just as long as he wouldn't ask for much ($), which I know he wouldn't. Maybe they'll still give him another chance. Just has a hard time staying healthy, but if he doesn't ask for much, may as well just take the chance.

Felix Hernandez to the Yankees, book it...

Mariners reported early to spring training.About a week earlier than any other team. This is definitely going to put them over the top and into the playoffs.

The Rays have agreed to a three-year contract extension with manager Joe Maddon, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times tweets. Maddon's contract had been set to expire after 2012, and the sides had been working on an extended agreement over the course of the offseason. An announcement is expected tomorrow, according to Topkin.

Maddon, the 2011 American League Manager of the Year, has managed the Rays to three playoff berths in the past four seasons, including an AL pennant in 2008. In six years under the 57-year-old Maddon, the Rays have a 495-477 record.

Well deserved for Maddon, he's a great manager.

Magglio Ordonez not willing to accept a minor league deal

It’s February 15 and Magglio Ordonez is without a team. And he’s likely to maintain that unemployed status for a while longer unless his asking price drops significantly within the next week.

According to CBS Sports’ Danny Knobler, Ordonez told a Venezuelan radio station on Wednesday that he is not willing to accept a minor league contract.

Rather, Ordonez wants a guaranteed Opening Day roster spot with guaranteed big-league money.

Ordonez, 38, batted just .252/.303/.331 with five home runs and 32 RBI in 92 regular-season games last season for the Tigers while fighting a fractured ankle. The A’s have expressed interest in him this offseason, but the veteran outfielder confirmed in his radio appearance Wednesday that Oakland is offering “nothing concrete.”
