BInge really needs to give it up at this point. 2nd is going to be Ramon/Raburn. Hopefully he realizes that he is 2nd string Don Kelly and will give up the act.

Miguel Cabrera is down to 265 pounds. freep.com/article/201202… Teammates say he wants to get down to 250, which would be a loss of about 40 lbs.

This weight loss shit isn't gonna matter, he couldn't play 3rd to save his life 5 years ago when he was skinnier than 250 and there was less wear and tear on his knees for carrying around his fat ass.

I don't blame you for posting it, it's more just a criticism of Buster Olney for posting it.

Cabrera was listed at 240 last year if I'm not mistaken.
Not quite sure where he got that information from.

Considering his own team mates said he wants to get down to 250, I'm assuming he was listed at a very generous weight last year.

There is no way in hell he was near 300 pounds last season. Miguel was in pretty good shape. He wasn't 240. I'd say 260ish was where he was at.

He's more solid then fat though.

Still won't help him at third base however.

With A.J. Burnett likely headed to the Pirates, the Yankees expect to sign Raul Ibanez and Eric Chavez, according to an official close to the team's thinking.

New York paused their designated hitter search as they finished up their agreement for the trade that is set to send Burnett to Pittsburgh.

In the deal the Yankees saved $13 million on the remaining $31.8 million of Burnett's contract.

The players the Indians acquired for C.C. Sabathia in 2008 have produced -0.6 WAR in the three-plus seasons since the trade, writes Fangraphs' J.P. Breen. "The Indians still have nine years of control between [Matt] LaPorta and [Michael] Brantley, but neither appear destined for full-time roles at the big league level," Breen writes.

The Cliff Lee trade is probably worse because Brantley is at least a starter. Although that could change when Carrasco returns from injury and if this prospect we got from them stops getting hurt too.

The Theo Epstein compensation deal is close, tweets Gordon Edes of ESPNBoston.  Edes' MLB source says the Red Sox will receive one quality minor leaguer from the Cubs.

The Cubs are not loaded with top-ranked prospects and young players, but I think it's safe to assume Matt Garza, Starlin Castro, Anthony Rizzo, Brett Jackson, Javier Baez, and probably Matt Szczur will not be involved.  Given MLB's involvement, perhaps a player in the Cubs' next tier of prospects could be included, such as Trey McNutt

Time to bust a McNutt!
