In case you don't know, the pro bowl every year is becoming more of a <Censored>ing joke than past ones. And uh, pretty much kindly putting your point out, it's a joke.

He is an average safety at best. Even if he is dang good - does he deserve to be the highest paid safety in the league? No way in hell. Troy Polamalu, Ed Reed Etc. are all like 312040290x better players. It's simply a joke signing for the money they dished out to him. I don't even know how you can sit there and defend it.
I'm not defending the money, I'm defending the talent and the upgrade he is over CC Brown. Did you see HOW many times CC Brown blew coverage last season? It was disgusting to watch, and he's not just an "average" safety, he's a young, good safety. He's a good combo in the secondary wit ha healthy Kenny Phillips, and unfortunately they had to do what they had to do to bring him in to NY. Arizona even went to to to with NY on the signing, and tbh I think the scouts and coaches of those teams know more about him than we do and have a better judgement of his talent. I stand by my team because it's just a sport. They can spend their money how they want to spend it, but tbh I'm glad they didn't cough up a boat-load of cash for a guy like Peppers, or last year for a guy like Haynesworth. He may be the highest paid, but when top safeties in the league start getting into contract negotiations they are going to be paid a lot. The reason why guys weren't paid that much in the past is because of the Salary Cap. the giants have the money to spend in an uncapped year, thats why a large sum of the contract is guaranteed in the first year.

They went to great lengths to improve their defense which sucked all because of MLB and S. They'll draft a MLB in the first round, and in 2-3 years this defense will be superior again,

Seattle is stupid if they use the sixth pick for Brandon Marshall.
Schefter was just saying that Marshall's name is being tossed around Cincinnati a lot. For a team that is looking for to stay young, I think he would be a good option. Not sure if it would happen, but if they have the ability to give up a draft pick and more for Marshall, rather than lower themselves and sign a washed up T.O., I think it's worth the gamble.

Veteran wideout Chris Chambers was cut by the Chargers during the 2009 season. The Chiefs claimed him via waivers, and Chambers finished with a flourish, catching 36 passes for 608 yards in nine games.

Coincidentally (or not), he's now an unrestricted free agent.

A league source tells us that the Chiefs are negotiating with him about sticking around.
Good to see pioli and chambers are negotiating. He was a big boost for us last year.

ESPN - The Bengals are considering restricted free-agent wide receiver Brandon Marshall.

Marshall spent Sunday in Seattle meeting with the Seahawks, but NFL sources claim that the Bengals are looking at him, Terrell Owens and Antonio Bryant.

Denver tendered Marshall with a first-round pick last week.

LOL Bryant.
The huge turn off with Bryant is the money he wants. If he didn't want that kind of money, damn, I'd love to have him on my team (along with most people). We haven't gotten to see what he can do with a solid QB.

He <Censored>ed before the Carolina game about not getting the ball thrown his way.

The next week, he caused five interceptions.

<Censored> him.

ATLANTA (AP) — Falcons owner Arthur Blank took the same approach with Dunta Robinson that he used two years ago on Michael Turner.

Welcome to Atlanta, your first and final stop as an unrestricted agent.

"I was brought in on Mr. Blank's private jet," Robinson said Monday, "and I was sold from that point on."

Robinson, considered by many as the most sought-after cornerback in free agency, left the Houston Texans to sign a six-year, $57 million contract with Atlanta.

Approximately $22.5 million is guaranteed, though Robinson suggested the Falcons offered more than a big payday.

"This is something I've always dreamed about growing up in Athens, Ga.," Robinson said. "This was the first professional team that I wanted to play for. I'm home. This is where I need to be. Here is where I'm most comfortable."

Blank, general manager Thomas Dimitroff and coach Mike Smith courted Turner in similar fashion before he signed a six-year, $34.5 million deal with $15 million guaranteed in early March 2009.

"We want to create an environment where a player really wants to be here, not because of the contract, but because ... of our culture, our coaching staff and the resources we make available," Blank said. "It's a credit to our organization that whom we would argue was the top cornerback available this year in free agency made only one stop."

Just as Turner enforced Atlanta's rushing attack as the NFL's second-leading rusher two years ago, the Falcons hope Robinson steadies a secondary that includes three young cornerbacks in Christopher Owens, Brent Grimes and Chevis Jackson and two young strong safeties in Thomas DeCoud and William Moore.

Free safety Erik Coleman will play his seventh season in 2010, cornerback Brian Williams, who signed a new one-year contract last week, will be playing his ninth season. Veteran cornerback Tye Hill is still on the roster, too.

Robinson and Williams are likely to open mini-camp in May as the starting corners. Smith indicated that Robinson will be used similarly to the role he had in Houston: jamming the opponent's No. 1 receiver at the line of scrimmage before dropping into coverage.

In the first year under Smith and defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder, Atlanta played mostly zone coverage. The Falcons mixed up their schemes to be less predictable last year, but they finished as the 28th-ranked in pass defense.

Dimitroff loves Robinson's fast, physical style of play.

"He has an uncanny ability, in our minds, to take the ball out and make plays on the ball," Dimitroff said. "He is very, very confident, and I'm sure you'll notice by the way he carries himself, an element of swagger we are definitely looking for with this football team."

Robinson, who has 13 career interceptions, sounded Monday as if he's ready to start training camp.

After Smith espoused his ability to tackle, the coach said he was looking forward to the "DBs and receivers mixing it up in practice."

Robinson quickly interrupted.

"I agree," he said.

LOL.

Dude, take into account that you have Josh Freeman. I think he has the ability to be something special if you use him right - but he's young, makes mistakes, and threw a TON of bad INT's. Regardless, let's see Bryant with a good, proven QB.

I would absolutely collapse to the ground and have a stroke if the Bengals brought in Brandon Marshall, that would be an early Christmas present. I love what I see out of Marshall on the field. I'm all for it, I hope it happens... Stay away from the T.O. distraction!!!! PLEASE let this happen!

I'm not really sure if Bryant is the answer, he can be good, I've seen it. I'd just rather going after someone like Brandon Marshall, bad thing is he's going to take some $$$$$$$$$$$ and I'm not sure Mike Brown will do that, he's cheap. I'm fine with Bryant over Owens though!

So much for wishful thinking... According to bengals.com it would take a hail mary to pick up Brandon Marshall so it was nice dreaming for a few seconds while it lasted... Hail mary's just don't happen with Mike Brown running things, we'll most likely get Bryant I'm guessing, he seems to be the top priority and could have a deal later today on his birthday...

Monday reset: Tank returns; Bryant visits; T.O. not confirmed; Moves hinge on WRs

With Tank Johnson in the fold and Antonio Bryant on campus, this could be a very brief free-agent season for the Bengals. For now, at least, it is on hold.

Bryant, the Tampa Bay wide receiver who celebrates his 29th birthday Tuesday as the first Bengals free-agent visit, could be their last if the two sides reach a multi-year deal. Johnson’s deal that solidifies the defensive tackle spot, as well as a potential big contact for Bryant, could take the Bengals out of the running for even many of their own free agents.

Also in the mix is Bills wide receiver Terrell Owens, a guy that could be headed to Cincinnati as early as Tuesday afternoon but that has yet to be nailed down with the club as of late Monday night. The conventional wisdom is that Owens is a one-year option.

But beyond that, that’s it. The Bengals game plan looks to hinge on which receiver they get.

Everything else, from kicker Shayne Graham to right guard Bobbie Williams to safety Roy Williams, appears to be dependent on what happens next.

The Hail Mary scenario looks to be Denver’s Brandon Marshall. At the moment, he is not an option this week. Such reported interest in cornerback Phillip Buchanon and guard Chester Pitts looks to be overplayed. At the very least, only the receiver position seems to be on the agenda.

Defensive tackle Tank Johnson tweeted late Monday afternoon, “THANKYOU WHO DEY NATION!!... Cinci we got a deal! Very greatfull to The Browns and all the Who Dey Nation!!! I'm Baaaaaaaack!!!! Now let's win some more.”

On Friday’s first day of free agency, agent Drew Rosenhaus tweeted for Johnson to get ready to “pack your bags” for some free-agent travels. But the Bengals looked to have what he wanted: Some security and a starting job in a deal that was undisclosed. During a one-year deal last year, Johnson proved he could play hurt and stand up to the run.

Despite a painful case of plantar fasciitis, Johnson played in the last 12 games and with the AFC North on the line Dec. 27 against Kansas City he led the line with his season-high seven tackles that included two for a loss.

Defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer expected more of pass rush from him, yet he also said last week, “But everything else was probably better than I thought. For what everybody said about him, he played pretty well for us.”

It’s believed that while the Bengals have been kicking tires on free-agent wide receivers, they have also taken the pulse of restricted free agent Brandon Marshall’s camp with some conversations. His agent, Kennard McGuire, offered no comment via text over the weekend but McGuire's client, along with Owens and Bryant, are the most alluring receivers left on the market.

After the first weekend of free agency is when the Bengals usually get more involved in the process and there were indications that they are ready to take the next step and invite Bryant or Owens or both to Cincinnati for a visit. Hours later, ESPN.com reported Bryant is coming in town Monday night to visit Tuesday.

Carson Palmer said over the weekend that he has been talking to Bryant, the former second-round pick out of Pittsburgh that turns 29 Tuesday and is the youngest unrestricted free agent receiver with the most skins on the wall. Palmer is also supportive of the look at a 36-year-old future Hall of Famer in Owens, noting his “big plays and production.”

One of McGuire’s other receiver clients, former Bengal T.J. Houshmandzadeh, believes a trade with Cincinnati and Denver makes sense. The Broncos have tendered Marshall for first-round compensation but there is no question that the team that ends up with him this year is going to have to sign him to a multi-year deal.

But for how much? That’s what McGuire and Marshall have to find out. It appears Denver would take a first-round pick.

“You’ve got a kid 26 years old with one of the top quarterbacks (Palmer) and you get a proven guy as opposed to the 21st pick and we all know that’s a crapshoot,” Houshmandzadeh said Sunday night from Los Angeles. “The stumbling block is going to be the contact that comes with it. For anybody. I have no idea if they’ve talked to Kennard, but Cincinnati makes sense.”

The team that gets Marshall is probably looking at something like five years, $50 million, a formidable figure for any team staring at an empty 2011. Plus, the Bengals have the potential big deals looming for cornerbacks Johnathan Joseph and Leon Hall. But Marshall would also mark a smooth transition to six-time Pro Bowl receiver Chad Ochocinco, whose option year is also 2011.

Houshmandzadeh’s Seahawks were the first team to host Marshall in the process over the weekend and while he was back in L.A., Houshmandzadeh was on the horn with Marshall. But with new Seattle coach Pete Carroll plucking some of Denver’s offensive staff, Houshmandzadeh said Marshall may know more about the Seahawks coaches than he does.

“We’ve got a good relationship. I’ve talked to him about a lot of different things. I would have no problem if we get him,” Houshmandzadeh said. “I told him maybe he’ll be able to help me get to know the coaches better. We’d almost be in the same position because I’m still getting to know the city a little bit.”

Kansas City signed running back Thomas Jones to a two-year deal worth $5 million, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Jones was released by the Jets last week after being due a $3 million roster bonus on top of a $2.8 million base salary this season. He and the Jets failed to reach a compromise on restructuring his contract; the team wanted him to take a pay cut.
Definitely a great move...good deal pioli. Now we got t jones and Charles in the backfield.
