CINCINNATI (AP) — Terrell Owens is headed to Cincinnati to see if the Bengals are interested in adding him to their stalled-out passing game.

The 36-year-old receiver tweeted on Tuesday that he was on his way to meet with team officials. Receiver Chad Ochocinco has been lobbying for the Bengals to sign Owens.

Cincinnati needs at least one proven receiver after releasing Laveranues Coles. It's unclear whether they have much interest in Owens, whose production declined each of the last two seasons with Dallas and Buffalo.

Former Tampa Bay receiver Antonio Bryant was in Cincinnati on Tuesday.

Do the Niners need another running back?

NBC's Profootballtalk.com is reporting that Jets tailback and return specialist Leon Washington has been talking to Niners and that the Niners are interested.

To get Washington, a restricted free agent who suffered a broken leg last season, the Niners would have to give up a second-round draft pick.

Washington is an all-purpose Brian Westbrook-type who would complement a West Coast offense, and he would definitely be an upgrade to Arnaz Battle returning kicks.

Last season's injury might scare away some teams.

The 49ers are well aware of his talents: Former Jets running back coach Jimmy Raye is the Niners offensive coordinator.

Kansas City signed running back Thomas Jones to a two-year deal worth $5 million, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The Chiefs announced the deal Tuesday but declined to disclose the terms.

Jones was released by the Jets last week after being due a $3 million roster bonus on top of a $2.8 million base salary this season. He and the Jets failed to reach a compromise on restructuring his contract; the team wanted him to take a pay cut.

Jones wasn't the only running back on Kansas City's radar. After spending Tuesday with the Washington Redskins, Pittsburgh Steelers free-agent running back Willie Parker was scheduled to visit the Chiefs on Thursday, a league source told Schefter, but the trip was canceled when Jones entered the fold.

The Chiefs also met with Justin Fargas on Tuesday, according to a league source.

Jones sat out voluntary activities last offseason while trying unsuccessfully to renegotiate his deal, which was front-loaded with $13.1 million over the first two seasons. He made only $900,000 in base salary last season, but didn't allow it to affect his play.

The 31-year-old is coming off a season in which he set career highs by rushing for 1,402 yards and 14 touchdowns while helping the Jets reach the AFC Championship Game against Indianapolis. He was also a popular presence in the locker room, twice being voted the team's most inspirational player by his teammates.

Jones had a career-high 331 carries in the regular season and appeared to wear down a bit down the stretch as rookie Shonn Greene got the majority of carries. Still, with the game on the line against San Diego and the Jets facing fourth-and-1 late, coach Rex Ryan put the ball in Jones' hands to make a first down that clinched a trip to Indianapolis.

The 31-year-old is expected to supplement third-year running back Jamaal Charles, who was Kansas City's MVP last season with 1,120 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.

Jones was drafted seventh overall in 2000 by the Arizona Cardinals. He was traded to Tampa Bay in 2003, went to Chicago in 2004 as a free agent and was traded to the Jets in 2007.
Well looks like Jones is a chief. I was really hoping he would go to the Lions but looks like it aint happening.

Still puzzling on why the Jets just let him go. I guess there were money issues but he had a career year.. Can't expect Shonne to take the full load for the Jets, he's still young. I guess Washington can compliment him but who knows. I think they should have just kept him and used Washington sparingly.

This Terrell Owens talk is scary, people were talking about it months ago and I didn't really think it would happen, now I'm starting to get a little worried.

The Jets have given Antonio Cromartie a $500,000 advance on his 2010 salary to help clear up his paternity obligations, a source told the New York Post. The 25-year-old cornerback told reporters during a conference call on Friday that he had child support issues to clear up so he could report to the team's offseason program March 22.

I was watching "Loud Mouths" on SNY the other day and one ofthe guys is a big Jets fan. He believes the team cut him because Jones is running out of gas, and that was apparent down the stretch and during the playoffs where he wasn't putting up as much yardage. I agree it's a pretty risky move to cut him, but it could also be part-financial.

The Kansas City Chiefs have signed free agent defensive tackle Shaun Smith, who played last season for Cincinnati.

The Chiefs announced the deal Wednesday but declined to disclose terms.

The 6-foot-2, 325-pound Smith has played in 63 games, including 27 starts, with New Orleans, Cincinnati and Cleveland. He has 196 tackles and two sacks during a career that began with the Saints in 2004.

Smith began his NFL career as a rookie free agent in 2003 with Dallas, where he was a member of the practice squad. After one year with New Orleans, he played for the Bengals from 2004 through 2006 and the Browns for two years before returning to Cincinnati last year

Report: Bengals come to terms with Bryant

Posted: March 10th, 2010 | NFL.com Staff | Tags: 2010 Free Agency, Antonio Bryant, C. Lamont Smith, Cincinnati Bengals, Terrell Owens

The Bengals have agreed to terms with free-agent WR Antonio Bryant on a four-year contract, reported Jocklife.com, a Web site owned by his agent, C. Lamont Smith. Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco also tweeted about the deal Wednesday and said it was signed.

The news comes on the same day that free-agent WR Terrell Owens is visiting the Bengals.

Bryant had a career-high 83 catches for 1,248 yards and seven touchdowns in 2008 with the Buccaneers, but he was bothered by knee issues last season and finished with just 39 receptions for 600 yards and four TDs.

UPDATE: The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Bryant signed a four-year, $28 million contract that could reach $29 million with incentives. According to the newspaper, the deal might not be announced until later Wednesday or Thursday because Bengals coach Marvin Lewis is out of town for competition committee meetings.
Well, I'm not really sure what to think, I hope he helps out our passing game!

Bryant is good, just needs to keep his head on straight, he's a good compliment to Chad.

I just wish they could've brought in Brandon Marshall because he clearly has the most talent of the three. But, Marshall would have taken quite the chunk of $$$$ and a draft pick, something Mike Brown just doesn't give up. Just hope Bryant is completely healthy because I know he had problems last year. Either way, Welcome to Bengaldom, Bryant!

Chad's probably mad they didn't get Owens but they wouldn't work out. Antonio Bryant is a great threat and now teams won't be able to key in on just Ocho. Anyone is an upgrade over Lavaranues Coles, too. I also like Caldwell as the #3.
