I'm not defending the money, I'm defending the talent and the upgrade he is over CC Brown. Did you see HOW many times CC Brown blew coverage last season? It was disgusting to watch, and he's not just an "average" safety, he's a young, good safety. He's a good combo in the secondary wit ha healthy Kenny Phillips, and unfortunately they had to do what they had to do to bring him in to NY. Arizona even went to to to with NY on the signing, and tbh I think the scouts and coaches of those teams know more about him than we do and have a better judgement of his talent. I stand by my team because it's just a sport. They can spend their money how they want to spend it, but tbh I'm glad they didn't cough up a boat-load of cash for a guy like Peppers, or last year for a guy like Haynesworth. He may be the highest paid, but when top safeties in the league start getting into contract negotiations they are going to be paid a lot. The reason why guys weren't paid that much in the past is because of the Salary Cap. the giants have the money to spend in an uncapped year, thats why a large sum of the contract is guaranteed in the first year.In case you don't know, the pro bowl every year is becoming more of a <Censored>ing joke than past ones. And uh, pretty much kindly putting your point out, it's a joke.
He is an average safety at best. Even if he is dang good - does he deserve to be the highest paid safety in the league? No way in hell. Troy Polamalu, Ed Reed Etc. are all like 312040290x better players. It's simply a joke signing for the money they dished out to him. I don't even know how you can sit there and defend it.
They went to great lengths to improve their defense which sucked all because of MLB and S. They'll draft a MLB in the first round, and in 2-3 years this defense will be superior again,
