The Mets have made some amazing moves to put us in playoff contention this year. With the signing of Kelvim Escobar, Elmer Dessens, and Henry Blanco nothing is stopping us now.

Finally! Someone else who speaks the truth, now all we need is a LFer, a catcher, about 2 starting pitchers and 2 bullpen arms and we will be ready for that World Series run.

Mark DeRosa took his physical for the San Francisco Giants on Monday, according to a source familiar with the club's negotiations. So only that physical stands in the way of DeRosa agreeing to a two-year deal with the Giants.

As ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney reported last week, DeRosa has been on the verge of accepting a two-year contract offer from the Giants since before Christmas. That offer, according to si.com, is for a total of $12 million over the two seasons.

The 34-year-old free agent has been pursued by a number of teams this winter, including the Yankees, Mets, Cubs, Cardinals, Braves and Phillies, but hasn't been able to find a club willing to give him the three-year deal he was originally seeking.

The Giants would use DeRosa primarily at third base, but he is also expected to see action at several other positions. He has played more than 20 games at every position except catcher and pitcher in his 12-year career.

DeRosa had wrist surgery in late October to repair a torn tendon sheath. So the physical, in his case, is more than a formality. However, he's expected to be ready for spring training.

Seems like a huge amount of money for a 34 year old who's been having injury problems.

Sweet, we finally signed Jason Bay. I think he is going to be a good player for us, not great but good.

Sounds like the Matt Holliday rumors are heating up now that Jason Bay is off the market. I see him going back to the Cardinals.

Well if I were Holliday I would strongly consider the Red Sox. I think they offered something around 85 million for him. Thats a pretty nice deal considering he would be going to a really good team.

But aren't the Cards offering him more money? And they're also a really good team.

That offense is anemic without Holliday as protection for Pujols. Even with the inclusion of Holliday none of the other hitters´ numbers improved. They are also losing Joel Piniero, for what its worth he was probably the best 3 starter in the league in my opinion, won 15 games with a nice mid 3 ERA.
