He's probably gunna go to the Angels or Phillies
I dont think he is going to the Phillies because in that case they wouldnt be able to sign Jayson Werth and Cliff Lee who are big cogs on that team. And we also have to consider the raises that Howard and Hamels will get through arbitration. The Phillies are currently at 140 million in payroll and I dont think they will go any further than that. From the Phillies Gm himself:

"I don't think there's any likeliness," Amaro said, asked to speak in general terms about acquiring a star starter.

So nothing has changed in the likeliness scale from Wednesday, when Amaro said they probably would not get involved in something that big?

"There's nothing likely. How about that?" Amaro said
As for the Mets declining Halladay last year, the Mets werent in a playoff hunt to have a reason to make that trade at the time due to all the injuries. At this point it makes more sense because the Blue Jays will get less as opposed to last year.

exactly, they werent in playoff contention and I believe that rumor was actually shot down.

The most it came to was the Mets called asking what the price was, they named names and it basically went that far.

The mets reportedly offered 4 years $65 million for Jason Bay. Which is only $5 million more than what the Red Sox offered Bay. The Mets have prioritized Bay over fellow free-agent outfielder Matt Holliday, having determined in studies that Bay's ability to pull the baseball is more conducive to homering at Citi Field. They also offered a reported 2 year contract worth approximately $12 million for Bengie Molina.

Tigers are trying to trade Guillen to the Dodgers for Juan Pierre. They are looking for a 3rd team though cause I guess the Dodgers want a pitcher too.

Possibility the Mets and John Maine enter the mix? I've heard rumors they are lightly shopping him.

Well I hope someone does. I'd like to have Juan. I've grown sick of Carlos.

CHICAGO -- Reliever J.J. Putz agreed Friday to a US$3-million, one-year contract with the Chicago White Sox and will fill a setup role in the bullpen.

Putz is 23-19 with a 3.24 earned-run average and 103 saves in 337 relief appearances over seven major-league seasons with Seattle and the New York Mets.

He was 1-4 with a 5.22 ERA with the Mets last season in 29 appearances before undergoing arthroscopic surgery to remove a bone spur in his right elbow on June 9, causing him to miss the remainder of the season.

"We've been monitoring him ever since the season ended and his daily workouts we're very familiar with," White Sox general manager Ken Williams said, adding Putz would be under no restrictions once spring training begins in February.

"He passed the physical with flying colours and we couldn't be happier with what was communicated to us," Williams added. "Needless to say, we feel from the top of our rotation down through the end of the bullpen, we feel as strong as we've ever been."

Putz was an AL all-star in 2007 when he was 6-1 with a 1.38 ERA and 40 saves. He was traded to the Mets in a three-team deal in December of 2008.

He will serve as a setup man, along with lefty Matt Thornton, for closer Bobby Jenks. The White Sox had an opening in their bullpen after not re-signing free agent Octavio Dotel.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Rays have completed a trade with the Atlanta Braves, acquiring right-handed pitcher Rafael Soriano and signing the reliever to a US$7.25-million, one-year contract.

The deal Friday sends right-hander Jesse Chavez to the Braves, who considered Soriano expendable after recently signing free agent relievers Billy Wagner and Takashi Saito.

Jason Bay's time with the Boston Red Sox could be at an end, reports Fox Sports.

Bay's agent, Joe Urbon, told Fox that the star outfielder has rejected the latest offer from Boston and he will pursue better offers.

"We don't agree with [Boston's] evaluation of the player," Urbon told Fox Sports. "Frankly, we have other offers on the table that are of greater interest to Jason."

Urbon would not close the door on the Red Sox completely, but explained his client was ready to "move on."

The Boston offer was reportedly a four-year deal worth $60 million. It is believed the Canadian slugger is after a five-year contract.

Bay has also been linked in rumours to the Mets, Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners.

Sounds like if the Mets go for 5 years Jason Bay will accept the offer.

Its sad to see such a young and great team like the Dodgers not be able to get an impact player to put them over the top. They are sooo close, yet they need another SP.

taking shots eh?

lol. you know im joking

about the Dodgers. true. 1 SP away.
hopefully Kershaw and especially Bills continue to progress because then we wont need a starter as badly as we did this past season.

Erik Bedard would be nice. and i think Chien-Ming Wang might come here because of Torre and his HS teammate, Hong-Chih Kuo, are is here

I would love to see Atkins in Toronto, we could use him at both 3rd base and 1st

Garrett Atkins just isnt what he used to be. He used to have trouble hitting on the road and now this past year he had trouble hitting at Coors. His stats have continuously falling to the point that its kind of weird how much they have gone down considering he should be in the prime of his career right now.
