I'd take Calderon over Felton to run PG for my team, but it has to be taken into consideration that Calderon is very poor defensively.

What would ever lead you to believe that a rookie coach could reign in Smith.
No doubt.

Derek Fisher was well respected by all players around the league (former NBAPA head) and I think JR Smith realizes what he has to do.

Being a well respected nurse doesn't mean you'll be well respected when you become a doctor.

Apples and oranges. The players vote for the PA head. Fisher has a lot of respect around the league from players and coaches. I don't think that'll be a problem at all.

Half of the defensive battle in the NBA is effort. Like dez mentioned, we all know Carmelo can defend, it's just effort.

I know the roster is different, but this was a 2 seed in the East two years ago. I'm not saying they'll get back to that level but I really think they can make the playoffs
I'm not going to rehash all those debates from last summer but they were a 2 seed because the team was well put together and the played the personnel they needed to play and played the way they need to play to succeed. Then they went in the opposite direction for whatever reason. I mean I saw it coming, and I don't think they'll be that much better this season. If they get in it will be as a 8th seed, but I think they'll still finish 9th or 10th. Are they better than Indiana, Miami, Toronto, Chicago, Washington, Brooklyn, Charlotte, Atlanta, or Cleveland? I could MAYBE see them jumping Charlotte, but that would still put them 9th.

They should be better than Brooklyn and Miami.  I'd add Atlanta but they just drafted future hall of famer Adreian Payne.

Yeah I can't call Brooklyn a playoff lock. If Miami gets Luol Deng they'll be a playoff team probably but yeah by the Knicks as a playoff team I really just mean like 7/8 I don't think the ceiling is much higher than that.

I don't get how Cleveland isn't a lock and I also don't get how Charlotte is very likely after not getting Hayward

I'd say Cleveland, Indiana, and Chicago are locks.

Washington and Toronto will be in barring big time injuries.

That leaves three spots for six teams: Miami, Brooklyn, Charlotte, Atlanta, New York, and Detroit.

Yep.  Andre Drummond could go 25 and 14 and surpass Dwight Howard as the best center in the game, it won't matter.  If Brandon Jennings is your PG, it won't matter.  And especially not if Josh Smith is still starting at 3 rather than 4.

I'd say those three teams are the

Heat, Hawks, and either the Nets or Hornets.

If Cleveland ends up in the lottery again I'll fucking quit basketball.

If they get the #1 pick I'll kill myself.

And he did what Phil asked took a (slight) paycut:

Carmelo Anthony left between $6 million and $7 million on the table, agreeing upon a five-year deal with the New York Knicks worth between $122 million and $123 million.

Anthony structured the deal to give the Knicks more cap space in 2015. It is believed he didnt take his annual 7.5 percent raise in Year 2 and may have taken a tiny pay decrease. Under collective bargaining agreement rules, a player can receive as high as a 7.5 percent pay raise annually.

He did exactly what we kind of asked him to do, Jackson said. Give us a break in the early part of the contract when we have some wiggle room hopefully big enough wiggle room next year when we can exploit it.

Anthony will create about $2 million in additional cap space in 2015.
