Both pretty equal in terms of views. The aspect of a winner takes all scenario definitely helps for sure. Louisville v Wichita State was the lesser of the two games in public media, and averaged to around what Games 1-3 of the Finals were (the non-elimination games of the Finals). Michigan v Syracuse was the more anticipated game, and it got more views than Games 4 and 5, which were still non-elimination games.
Game 6 of the Finals had the opportunity for the Spurs to end the series, so it had a 20M viewer rating, higher than the Final Four matchups and games 1-5. But it wasn't win-or-go home, as the Heat could (and did) extend the series. Game 6 was lower in ranking than the National Title Game, at 23M. But once Game 7 was the end all, it surpassed the NCAA title game.
Verdict: Elimination games get the higher views, with a Game 7 in the NBA Finals being more popular than an NCAA Title Game
