Really starting to see the Pelicans go to AD late in games, finally.

and we can sit here and argue who will make the playoffs all day, but I'd say one of Russell Westbrook or Anthony Davis will be at home watching while a team like Charlotte, Milwaukee, Miami, etc will get in. NBA fans lose in that scenario.

They need to re-align. That's the only real solutions unless you get rid of conferences entirely

I could see something like only the first four in each conference are guaranteed a playoff spot. The remaining eight spots goes to the best eight remaining teams in the league. But I would so settle for a realignment that puts the Pels in the East as well.

I don't like that idea because I feel like it punishes the top teams in the lesser conference. But I feel like that's what's going to happen except maybe with the top 6 instead of 4

Might not be the best, but here's what I came up with for a re-alignment

AMERICAN CONFERENCE:

East:
Atlanta
Boston
New York
Orlando
Washington

Central:
Cleveland
Chicago
Indiana
Memphis
Milwaukee

West:
Denver
Los Angeles Clippers
Oklahoma City
San Antonio
Utah

NATIONAL CONFERENCE:

East:
Brooklyn
Charlotte
Miami
Philly
Toronto

Central:
Dallas
Detroit
Houston
Minnesota
New Orleans

West:
Golden State
Los Angeles Lakers
Phoenix
Portland
Sacramento

Conferences should only be used to prevent east coast and west coast teams from having to travel cross country an absurd amount of times. Keep the label just so travel remains similar, change in conferences meetings from 4 to 3 and just take the 15 games right off the schedule, and the top 16 get in the playoffs. Wouldn't even be opposed to dropping that 16 team playoff to 12

I agree they should cut the season but they won't. Too much money on the table

Also I know the West has been better for a while now but there's no saying moving Memphis or NOLA to the East solves anything. Those teams could both easily suck in a couple of years and make the East even worse.

It's a cycle
