That's an awful philosophy. Shooters need to have confidence. A good coach gets mad at his players for NOT shooting when they're open. That's Coach K's philosophy.

That's not really fair to say, completely depends on the coach. Bob Knight does not share Coach K's philosophy, for example.

That's not really fair to say, completely depends on the coach. Bob Knight does not share Coach K's philosophy, for example.

Bob knight is an old school coach who came up in the non-three point shooting era. He was a great coach but he was never really much of an adapter.

I can't disagree with that, just more to show that this idea that BWares idea isn't as bad as it sounds. The whole sitting out the next game thing is a little much, but in all of the books, coaches notes, dvd's, etc I've studied over the years it's really quite common for coaches to discourage certain players from attempting shots that are low percentage.

That's a different concept than what BWare was saying. BWare was saying he would put a cap on how many threes a player would take unless he was extremely hot. 
 
Like for instance on Duke, Coach K isn't going to encourage every player to shoot threes. But for Quinn Cook, Tyus Jones, Justise Winslow, Matt Jones, and Grayson Allen, Duke's consistent three-point shooters, he's going to get mad at them if they don't shoot when they're open, even if they're 0-5 or something like that.
