Heyward woulda shat on Posey if he didn't play with that hurt thumb for a month and completely suck during that time.

Dude...how can you make such an ignorant statement when Posey didn't even play in the MLB for just as long

Posey didn't play hurt for a month and didn't have his numbers completely skewed by it.

If you take away his numbers from June, he's looking like the front-runner for ROY.

You make all of that seem like thats Posey's fault

Buster Posey = NL ROTY

naw Elite, Posey is ROY

he's a catcher putting up great offensive numbers, hitting cleanup, and controlling that excellent staff
he's ROY imo. not to mention his homer today left an amazing lasting impression

Yeah and I just love how great he's handled that young rotation nicely. He doesn't seem like a rookie to me at all.

But cheato is probably right.

i dont know

voters are going to look at homers and rbi
posey played less time, and has as many HR and a few less rbi
Posey is catching and hitting cleanup for a playoff team.
Heyward has a higher OBP, but Posey has the higher SLG% and BA

i think cheato is talking about all the hype that Heyward has gotten though
and yeah he has a point, but it's really hard to go against Posey here. really hard

I never said that Posey wasn't going to win it now, but I said that if Heyward didn't play injured, he would have won it because his numbers are all ###### up.

And I hate this, "Posey's a catcher, thus making his numbers more impressive" bull<Censored>. Your numbers aren't any better than someone else's because you play a different position.

not any better on face, but they are better when you're looking at the value of a player

ROY isn't value, that's MVP. ROY is the best stat line, regardless of position.

I think Buster's gonna win too, all I'm saying is things would be much different without Heyward hurting his thumb, resulting in a god awful June because he had to play through it due to a lack of OF depth.

i want to play the 'what if' game too

what if Posey was able to play a full season as well? (i know Heyward was also on the DL, but he still had over 500 at bats)

Hong-Chih Kuo set the Dodgers record, Brooklyn and L.A., for lowest ERA!
1.20 ERA (min. 50 innings pitched, so pretty much a relievers record)

broke Gagne's record

I love Kuo. he's the best

I'm not playing a what if game. I could care less about number of ABs. Give them both the same number of ABs/time in the bigs but get rid of a month of numbers when Heyward shouldn't have been playing anyway and it's fairly clear who the ROY was.

If you take out Heyward's numbers in June that were completely skewed due to injury, he has about 20 more ABs than Posey so the counting stats are now on an even playing field. They'd be even in HRs and Heyward would have slightly less RBIs. Heyward would be hitting .302, three points less than Posey. Heyward's OBP would be .418, completely <Censored>ting on Posey's by about 60 points. They would be tied in slugging % and of course his OPS would also be 60 points higher.

Posey had a really nice catcher's ERA at 3.23 and threw at a good percentage of runners. Heyward had a 4.6 UZR, which is above-average.

It's fair close, but I like Heyward there simply because he gets on base a ton more than Posey does.
