Elton Brand put his LA house up for sale
TYO, you might be right:Philly here we come
Rest of the story HEREIt's starting to look as though the biggest threat to the Los Angeles Clippers re-signing franchise forward Elton Brand can be found much further east than Oakland.
NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com on Monday night that the Philadelphia 76ers are again "actively involved" in the Brand hunt -- and a serious threat to tempt him away from L.A. -- after initially fearing that they couldn't compete financially with the Clippers and Golden State Warriors.
If he does sign, the offer will be in the range of 12mill a year. Something like that might scare the Hawks away...Sea I'm satisfied that stefanski is out making moves
But if they offer him that, i doubt the Hawks will match. Thats what they denied the 1st time.12mil is a little much for Smith.
Like I said before, the Sixers need a reliable first option, and he wont be that.
Philadelphia 76ers forwards Rodney Carney, Calvin Booth and a future No. 1 pick have been traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves to free as much as $2 million in additional salary cap space for the Sixers to offer Elton Brand or Josh Smith, multiple league sources said.
Minnesota sends Philadelphia its $2.8 million trade exception from a 2007 deal of Mark Blount to the Miami Heat.
Carney and Booth have been told of the deal, sources said. The deal can’t be finalized until the NBA trade moratorium is lifted on Wednesday.
we also interested in Brent Barry if we dont re-sign Sasha, and we're still interested in James PoseyMiami and the Los Angeles Lakers have expressed interest in Thomas, though the Spurs could offer more money than either of those teams. In all likelihood, the Lakers would partake in the hunt for Thomas only if their bid to retain Ronny Turiaf falls short.
i was thinking something similar too.By the Sixers making that trade, theyve probably been told by one of the players that he intends to sign... maybe Brand?
I know Smith is restricted, and the Hawks could still match.
