Optimism grew late in the night on Wednesday as the NBPA and NBA continued another long bargaining session and word leaked out that the two sides may be getting nearer to an agreement.

One person briefed on the discussions described himself as "incredibly optimistic" that a deal will soon be done.

Wednesday at 5 p.m. EST was supposed to be the deadline, after which the NBA would issue a "reset" proposal to the union that would contain a smaller share of BRI for the players and far more restraints on their player contracts and free agency.

But as the hours have gone by, and the deadline passed, it is believed that the two sides have remained engaged on re-working the so-called 'system' issues that were part of the NBA's take-it-or-leave-it offer of last Friday.

The union came into Wednesday's meeting finally ready to reduce the players' share to 50 percent, the number that the NBA had been pushing for a number of weeks. In exchange, the players are seeking a more favorable system before an agreement is reached with the owners.
Obviously not believing it until I see it, but I guess that's kind of good news.

Progress was made on three system issues, source tells Y! Sports.
I would like to think it's good news, but we heard this kind of progress a week ago and nothing came of it.. Well not this specifically, just that progress was being made.

They're meeting again at 12.

There's a number of people saying they are getting closer. I've heard some people say today or tomorrow a deal could be made.

Just remember, a whole month before the league actually gets up and rolling.

I watched the press conferences, and both parties seemed like they still weren't very close.

Now reports come out saying that they are close.

I'm still wondering how favorable the union wants the system issues, I would assume they want them very favorable because they are getting a crappy BRI percentage (in their eyes).

I'm also wondering if the NBA will allow these favorable system issues to the players, because the NBA obviously wants every team to have a shot at winning and that is what it comes down to.

there is a report out there that dave checketts, one of stern's buddies and owner of real salt lake, said the deal has been agreed upon

but a bunch of the nba reporters are getting pissed and saying no deal yet

hopefully at the minimum it's a sign of good things to come soon

The union is going to talk to their player reps on Monday to see what they want to do with the new offer.

If the players accept, there will be a 72 game season starting on December 15th.

If the offer isn't accepted, the owners go to there 47% offer with a flex cap.

Is there a reason they are waiting till Monday? I mean it's freakin Thursday night for heavens sake.

I don't think it matters anyway.. They aren't going to negotiate anymore, and they have already set it that the season can start on the 15th of December if agreed upon.

If they let the players actually vote on the deal this time, I think there is no doubt that it gets approved.

The owners' offer is a 50-50 BRI split, sources say. But early indications are, not as meaningfully different on system as Stern portrayed
Just fucking take it before they take even more from you.

It sounded like Fisher, Hunter want to dissect the offer w/player reps and try to negotiate more. Stern indicating negotiations are over.

I came to the realization that I can wait for the season to start.
I feel like Dumars will be a dumbass and bring back Prince, which basically takes all of the excitement I had going in to the season away.
