This boils down to the dpve

Everyone is getting traded because of it. And the guys who are worthy of it, harden and russ. Already made their intentions clear. James will stay and russ wont.
I Dont blame boston for not wanting to pay IT long term

I guess hayward is better than crowder and bradley maybe slightly. Im not saying boston will suck. I do think Washington can beat them and think theyre not even close to cleveland

Im going to preface my upcoming post by saying im not trying to be that guy who trashes the guy his team traded away; I LOVE isaiah still

-------

I dont think the Cavs are better this year. Maybe on paper they are, but paper doesnt factor in Ty Lues ineptitude of being a head coach.

Crowder is a really good supporting player, starter or not, but his role is limited a ton on this Cavs team. Jae is NOT quick enough to guard SGs consistently. Hes a physical type of defender and not someone who can keep up with the faster players, which limits his minutes since hes undeniably worse than Lebron and Love. Hell improve the second unit as an upgrade over RJ, but his ineffectiveness of shot creation doesnt help Cleveland all to much either.

And then Isaiah. Again, I still love Isaiah but I am not confident that Lue can utilize Isaiahs strengths properly. Unlike Kyrie and Lebron, IT can not size up and iso pull up effectively; its not his game. Hes fantastic at picking up dribble handoffs at the 3pt line, and finishing around the rim off the P&P. Hes not someone like Demar Derozan who can call an iso, start to drive and then pull up for the jumper his size limits that. IT and KLove could be incredible together and if Lue was smart hed actually build the offense around Isaiah for the P&R/P&P game with Lebron and Love as the screeners. IT was never more than just decently good outside of Boston, and I can see Cleveland not figuring out how to use him.

-------

With all of IT's defensive deficiencies, hes the type of player you need to maximize on offense so he becomes a net positive/neutral, and tbh I dont see Lue capable of doing that. I dont think the Cavs will be better

theyre different

AB is one of the best role players in the league today. Everyone knows of his elite perimeter defense as he can guard PGs better than almost anybody in the league, and he was an underrated shooter as well. He was 9th in the league in points-per-play coming off as a cutter, and was in the 86th percentile as a spot-up shooter. He's one of those guys that every team would love to have in their lineup, because he doesn't need the ball to be dominant and can be a very good catch-and-shoot player.

Hayward doesn't have the defensive skill that Avery has, but he's a more dangerous offensive player. The reason AB is a shooting guard and not a point guard at 6'2" is because he's not a good passer for a starting guard and has weak handles, limiting his ability to create his own shot. Hayward is quite versed in those skillsets, as he's one of the better facilitating non-guards in the league, and he can absolutely create his own look. And while AB was 9th in PPP as a cutter, Hayward was actually 6th so Boston's offense won't stagnate in those situations.

Both Zach Lowe and Howard Beck think Hayward is the Celtics second best player, but yea when I say it it's just cause I'm a hater

Fuck, you all know what I meant. They're probably equal, though they weren't last year

Are we really talking about comparing a guy who the offense was built around and the team's second best scorer was George Hill, and a guy who was in an offense built in a scheme counter-intuitive to give him efficient scoring?
