You don't get the point. No matter how "close" they got to winning a championship:

A) Their season was championship or bust. They busted, and thus their season was a failure.
B) The current Big three's games don't mesh well together. They don't have a low-post threat. Neither LeBron nor Wade have a jump shot consistent enough, etc. If they were to trade one of the Big 3 for a player like Dwight Howard, or Kevin Durant (this is impossible, but it's just an example), they would fill one of their biggest team needs without losing hardly anything (LeBron can play Wade's roll and vice versa, Haslem could start at PF if they traded Bosh, etc.).

The Patriots team had no real flaws, hence why they went 11-5 the next season WITHOUT TOM BRADY. That is a TERRIBLE comparison.

1) My expectations for this team wasnt a championship or bust, I mean lets be realistic.

2) This isnt a fantasy basketball league, you dont just go and trade away Lebron James for Dwight Howard. Its called evolving your game. Jordan didnt have a great low post game when he came back, but he improved that and went back to his winning ways. Magic admitted it was his fault that they lost in 84 and he had to improve in certain areas of his game. Both great players who improved their games. So why not Lebron? They dont mesh well together and they played up to Game 6 on the NBA finals. I wish the Knicks didnt "mesh" that well either, lmao.

3) The comparison was between both team's us against the world mentality. Both teams were great teams who were finding their identities. But at the same time, were receiving enormous media attention. So now you should be able to understand the comparison.

Taking the best player in the world off your team never helps, no matter who you bring on

A serious NBA fan didnt expect this team to win the championship right from the start. They didnt have a complete team and that was expected. 1 year is not an appropriate amount of time for a team that was assembled the way this Heat team was. Players everywhere are nowadays making grandiose claims that arent fufilled as well. For example, Plax saying they were going to beat the Patriots, Mikhail saying the Nets will win it all in 5 years, and now Lebron saying he's going to win multiple championships.

I dont view their season as a complete failure, but everyone else does to dramatize this saga. What if Lebron and the Heat did win it? There would be no Part 2 of the saga, people wouldnt enjoy it as much because it was practically the league vs the Heat. If the Heat won, there would be nothing to root against. The same manner in which the Patriots got caught cheating with Spygate, remember that?

It was the league vs. the Patriots and they won every game until the Super Bowl. But when you look back at it now, they didnt receive so much hatred or backlash when they lost. The media didnt state that the team should be significantly altered. So why should this team?

At the end of the day, the Miami Heat are a great team that are very close to winning a championship. They do not need to make significant changes to win one.
I think we are moving off topic. My response came as a result of you wondering why Lebron, and by extension the Miami Heat, are 'punching bags' at the moment. I gave you a pretty clear assessment why that is. Let's address the rest of your comments, though.

You are understating this team's relationship with the media, and how that attention, in turn, is leading to the negative press today. 'The Decision', their off season celebration, player twitter accounts, the Dirk comments, Lebron's recent comments; they are all examples of the team's 'healthy' involvement within the news cycle, much of which players were actively complicit in feeding. Lebron James, additionally, happens to be the most marketable player in the league. Fact of the matter is, the Heat very, very publicly signed 3 all stars to near max contracts and compromised the rest of their team for the express goal of winning a title today. This was a notion that the media also embraced and yes, which real NBA fans expected them to win. When they did not, all this exposure turned on its head, leading to the situation we have today. I happen to think its warranted.

No, this does not compare with the Patriots, Plaxico Burress, or the Nets because neither one of those things were as relevant to their respective leagues as the Heat were to the NBA. The Heat made their bed, and now they are sleeping in it. And quite frankly, in most cases, they are feeding the very drama it sounds like you are complaining about.

Dwight for LeCon is a major win for the Heat... Would you rather start LeBum and Joel Anthony, or Mike Miller and Dwight Howard? lmao

Dwight would be so much better for Miami

do you remember when at the beginning of the year, when everyone said Miami couldn't beat Boston? Thats because Boston had Perk and Shaq, and Miami had Joel Anthony.

With Dwight Howard, the game becomes completely different. This last season, the Heat offense was very predictable. They run a fast pace offense, with Wade or LBJ bringing it up. That guy will either drive to the basket, or dish it out to a 3pt shooter. If he drives, he's either passing it to Bosh for the mid range, or another 3pt shot. Do you remember the Hawks v Magic series this year? The Magic pounded the ball inside, which forced him to be doubled. Howard then kicked it out to Hedo and JRich, who were ice cold from 3 and sucked. But what if it was Mike Miller, a very dependable 3pt shooter, Mario Chalmers, another good shooter, Dwayne Wade, and have Chris Bosh at the mid range. Bosh hits that shot almost every time, and with Dwight taking double teams, either 1. Bosh is guarded by someone much smaller than him, or 2. he's wide open. And if Dwight isn't doubled? Thats 2 points for Miami.

And true, your defense does get worse. Joel Anthony is a better defender than Miller. But your interior defense is beyond solid, with bosh and dwight.

Dwight Howard for LeBron would be a great trade for the Heat

LeBron is clearly better then Dwight, but it would interesting to see the effect of Howard on the Heat instead of LBJ. The Magic would become a title contender instantly with LeBron though.. Can you imagine how amazing that offense could be? Stan Van loves the 3 ball, and LeBron would get that team so many open looks it would be ridiculous.. The Heat don't want to make teams better in the conference.

i dont htink the magic would become title contenders

theyd be lethal from 3, but has no inside game at all.

The Cavs never had an inside game..

You're undervaluing LeBron James. Him choking in the finals shouldn't diminish his ability. They would need to add a center but LeBron would make them a lot better. They spread the floor better then any team in the league, and add in LeBron's ability to attack the paint? They become extremely hard to guard unless you have a player who can stay in front of LeBron so you can stick the shooters, which is few and far between in the NBA.

Yeah the magic with lebron would be a very high potent offense. I think the Heat would be better with Howard instead of Lebron though.

Cavs had Varejao, who was a solid big man. Varejao>Bass, the Magic's best big.

And how did Lebron do in the playoffs with Cleveland anyways?

It's too risky of a move by the Heat to even consider.. Dwight Howard is most likely leaving after this year, so you if you trade LeBron to them you are essentially adding a perennial title contender in your division for the next 6 years instead of watching them take a pretty big drop just to make your team a little bit better.

Varejao is a really good defensive center, but all of his offense was spoon fed by LeBron.

LeBron put up great numbers in the playoffs except for against the Spurs in 07 and the Celtics in 2010.. Hell we almost knocked the Celtics out the year they won the title.. Our offense stalled in the series' we lost. Had some to do with the talent, and some do to with the coaching.

well it wouldnt be risky.

because of contracts, if im not mistaken, dwight would need to be re-signed to match lebrons salary anyways

I just thought of this scenario: Lakers v "Magic"

Fisher v Nelson: Advatnage Orlando
Kobe v JRich: Big Advantage LA
Artest v Lebron: Advantage ORL, but Artest can actually play some good D on LBJ
Gasol v Hedo: Not even close
Bynum v Bass: not even gonna answer

The Lakers would shit on the Lebron Magic

You forgot to put Big in front of the advantage on PGs for Orlando and SF.. Artest can't cover LeBron anymore, that's been proven over the last two years. And you're assuming a lot of these match ups.. Bass won't be the Orlando starting center. They would definitley pick up a new center and who says the Lakers will be in the finals?
