The Charlotte Bobcats have fired head coach Sam Vincent after only one season at the helm, ESPN.com are reporting.
Larry Brown is believed to be interested in the new vacancy, after quitting his job with the Sixers only days ago.
A source, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject, said Brown had not been contacted by the Bobcats, the Charlotte Observer reported.
The Charlotte Observer -
A source close to Larry Brown claims that the Hall of Famer would be interested in interviewing for the head coaching job of the Bobcats should they fire Sam Vincent, according to the Charlotte Observer.
Brown has not been contacted by the team, as they continue to evaluate the performance of first-year coach Vincent.
Brown was active in the front office of the 76ers until this week when he decided to resign, leading many to believe that he wants to coach again very soon.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Bobcats acquired the No. 20 pick in the NBA draft on Wednesday from the Denver Nuggets.
The Bobcats sent the Nuggets a future protected first-round pick, and now have two picks in the first round. Charlotte also holds the ninth overall pick.
The move could give Charlotte an option to take both a big man and a point guard in the draft, two areas of need. The Bobcats were impressed with Georgetown centre Roy Hibbert when he worked out for the team earlier this month. Hibbert is expected to go late in the first round.
Yea really, he's gonna be a good player.I don't get why no one thinks Hibbert would be a good pick. He's 7'2, and i think he can be a good rookie right away, and i think he does have potential and he will become a good player in the league.
The Charlotte Bobcats and restricted free agent Emeka Okafor have agreed in principle on a six-year contract worth at least $72 million.
General manager Rod Higgins confirmed the agreement Tuesday to local reporters, saying that he expects the contract to be completed "in the next few days" after an ESPN.com report said the sides had made significant progress in the past week and were on the verge of a deal.
