send me a natty light and well take him
its just like WWE If they're Going to continue to make business decisions that are terrible for the product then I'm not going to feel sorry for it as it deterioratesBNC said:Huh?
And they have a number of good radio programs. And other companies acquiring distributions rights has done what exactly? Cause no one has emerged as a potential threat to ESPN. Again, what are they supposed to do? The opinion shows are the only ones that aren't easily replaced by the internet

Those situations weren't exactly similar and Jamele was actually treated similarly to Schilling. They both received warnings for the political posts on social media and received warnings followed by suspensions, Schilling persisted and was fired, as for Jamelle we'll see. (although if we're grading on a curve Schilling has been far worse, and I don't even like Hill)AE. said:ESPN going very left wing definitely doesn't help. They shit-can Curt Schilling but tolerate Jamele Hill. You can agree or disagree with either.... but it doesn't make any business sense to alienate half of your viewers. Republicans grew up watching Sports Center too. I don't think it's always possible to avoid political discussions, but on-air talent shouldn't be flaming to one side of the aisle or the other.
I think the argument based shows hit a certain target audience that likes that, I used to love the debate shows and I know lots of people still do, but it can definitely come off as disingenuous because you need both guys to take a different side for it to work. I'm really excited to see what Bomani and Pablo Torre's show is gonna be about because I think it'll be more of a discussion based show that you're wanting here and this one is gonna have probably the two smartest people at the network on it.bosoxlover12 said:thats not true. just need it to be more discussion based and less debates/brand focused
like GMFB on NFLN is awesome imo. granted im impartial because im in love with kay adams, but its a really good show for football discussion
if espn reverted to their older days (like how gmfb is currently) itd do better. all they do is argue at each other now
Schilling wasn't given any formal warning that I'm aware of. And if we're grading, I'd say calling the POTUS a racist is worse than criticizing the NC bathroom law. Either way, this isn't the kind of shit people want to hear when they tune into ESPN or follow their talent on social media. I love seeing on air talent get butthurt when they're told to "stick to sports", as if they're being told not to have an opinion.BNC said:Those situations weren't exactly similar and Jamele was actually treated similarly to Schilling. I mean, that's not the only thing Schilling said, but the fact that that's all you point to is tellingAE. said:Schilling wasn't given any formal warning that I'm aware of. Nope, what we're telling you is that we didn't make your asses famous because of your astute political opinions.
I can agree with some of this. The debate format was better when it was organic and genuine. Not only has certain "talent" become purposely obnoxious for the sake of attracting attention, but the quest to become the next Stuart Scott has turned the network into a bunch of parody acts.BNC said:I think the argument based shows hit a certain target audience that likes that, I used to love the debate shows and I know lots of people still do, but it can definitely come off as disingenuous because you need both guys to take a different side for it to work. I think the main problem is they have 2 channels dedicated to 24 hours of sports in a day when there's really not enough sports to justify that much coverage
Not sure what you're implying. But tell me what else did Schilling said that was politically controversial, while still employed by ESPN?BNC said:I mean, that's not the only thing Schilling said, but the fact that that's all you point to is telling
Well they can easily associate themselves with PMT, Barstool on the other hand.. not so much. PMT should leave Barstool if they want to continue to grow.AE. said:I can agree with some of this. You know shit is bad when they bring in Barstool talent, a company built to spite ESPN, and then turnaround and say "never mind".
You can use googleAE. said:Not sure what you're implying. But tell me what else did Schilling said that was politically controversial, while still employed by ESPN?
Big Cat and PFT should leave Barstool and do what? Be censored to high hell by Disney's conglomerate? No thanks. This ESPN fiasco has only strengthened the Barstool brand.BNC said:Well they can easily associate themselves with PMT, Barstool on the other hand.. not so much. And people hate Stephen A, but he is very good at what he does and people still enjoy watching that
I don't have to, I lived through it. Schilling was fired for sharing a Facebook post that was in response of the NC bathroom laws, a political cartoon or a meme, if I remember correct. I did forget he was suspended once for a Tweet that compared radical Muslims to Nazis, but ESPN's problem wasn't the message but rather the content and timing of it. There's nothing wrong with comparing state-controlled genocide but the time tweet about it isn't while covering the Little League World Series.BNC said:You can use google
