yeah id say in a vacuum george is better actually

Butler hit his ceiling. George hasnt imo

Butler has improved every single year he has been in the league.

George has been pretty much the exact same player since 2013.

So for that, lets punish him and not give him the credit?

Where'd you get that from. The point was PG stagnating

I'd definitely take butler based on this year but I do feel like he's probably hit his ceiling while PG might not have

Stats smh

If you gonna look at stats, check the advanced stats and youll see the difference, instead of looking at ppg/ast/reb

PG hasnt been himself since the injury
His defense hasnt been the same
His leadership is awful, he cant be the number one guy
Has no killer in him
Awful in the clutch

If PG didnt have that injury, id say he hasnt hit his ceiling, but unfortunetly, imo he has and we wont see anything more special

His injury is acrually the reason I do think he has untapped potential. This was his first year back at 100%.

You're totally right:

Catch-and-Shoot
George: 60.3 eFG%, 7.4ppg
Butler: 55.2% eFG%, 2.4ppg

Pull Up Shooting
George: 45.9 eFG%, 6.7ppg
Butler: 40.4% eFG%, 6.2ppg

Isolation Shooting
George: 45.8 eFG%, 3.8ppg
Butler: 39.5% eFG%, 2.7ppg

P&R Ball Handler
George: 53.2 eFG%, 4.1ppg
Butler: 40.5% eFG%, 7.5ppg

Points per 100 Touches
George: 38.0
Butler: 34.2

Defensive FG%
George: 53.9%
Butler: 57.4%

They're both similar, but George (via advanced stats) was better than Butler this year

Shooting stats are cute, sure

Now PLAYER EFFICIENCY RATING , the best overall stat, check that

Check offensive and defensive win shares, check overall win share

Then check offensive BPM, and then defensive BPM too(PGs is gross) , then check the overall BPM

And then check value over replacement, that shows the overall contribution to a team(jimmy is up there with the top dogs)

On the defensive side this year, jimmy has absolutely merked him

You can have those few %s in catc and shoots and what not, but ill take jimmys clutch 4th quarter play over those few %s any day

PER/BPM/RPM/VORP in basketball I have found are awfully flawed stats that are incredibly subjective on the other 9 players on the court.

I will never trust those stats after last year it said Avery Bradley was the #50th ranked SG in DRPM, despite making All-Defensive 1st team and clearly not being a negative defender lol.

Regardless, if you want to say you'd rather have George, that's fine. But if we're just basing things off this year's numbers, Butler was better.

because those are the important categories lol

• How they are off ball as a shooter
• How they shoot pull up jumpers
• How they are in isolation
• How they are running the P&R as a scorer
• How often and efficient they score
• How they defend shots

Like all those plus/minus stats are incredibly flawed. Like you don't think Avery Bradley's +/- is flawed because the Celtics allow a ton of points when IT is on the floor, and don't score a lot when Smart is on? Its affected by so much that doesn't have any impact on the player himself

All those stats are incredibly important at how he'd fit with the Celtics. And based on last year's numbers, he's a better fit than Butler.

I'd still rather keep assets and sign Hayward, which is a lot more likely now that he can't get the DPVE
