The Yankees are actually really good. I didn't expect them to be this good.

Twins got really lucky. Trades away all their players at the deadline and still make the playoffs. Every year they get in as a mediocre team with a first round exit. Sure, they may look good over a course of a season, but they can't compete with playoff teams.
