Teams can take threes , im not saying they cant. Im saying a big man should do what big men do and do his job in the paint or the midrange like it was always done

Theyre starting to shoot threes now bc they see what the future is becoming. A huge 3 point contest and whoever is hot that night wins. Just my opinion tho. I simply like the inside out basketball with two bigs (marc zbo) on the blocks and kicking out to shooters.

What aggrivates me the most is when teams take 3s on fastbreak when they have a 3 on 1 break. Thats not how i was taught basketball. Always go for the easy two on a 3 to 1 break.
I was taught to hate gays, but i learned it aint the best way

rim protector ≠ good lowpost defender

Al Horford is a good rim protector. He's an average lowpost defender
Kendrick Perkins (when in Boston) was a great lowpost defender, and an awful rim protector

Rodman was a great lowpost defender. Luc was the rim protector on those Bulls teams
i always think of birdman with rim protection/low post defense for some reason

Rodman was an amazing defender and a rim protector.
amazing rebounder and defender yes
Not much of a rim protector. He hardly blocked shots

And not to even mention about bigs shooting threes -- even if they aren't great at it, the simple threat affects the defenses immensely.

---

Lets look at the Sixers. Embiid is shooting 34% from three -- not great numbers, but its high enough that you shouldnt just leave him open from three.

So if the Sixers run a line of Embiid/Saric/Covington/Henderson/Sergio, and they spread everyone to the wing with Embiid at the key, what the hell is the defense going to do? You leave Embiid open, and he'll hit it more than a third of the time (probably more too, idk his uncontested 3pt%). It forces his defender to play away from the hoop, and then you have easy opportunities at attacking the rim.

Like cheato said, its just smart basketball

Obviously the game has changed to this new 3 point contest so oh well but im just saying i miss the old grit and grind basketball. Physical basketball where the lanes werent open all day to get to the paint like it is today. The game has been changed for more scoring and entertainment. Its easy to jack up threes. Im sure steve Kerr has many plays for them.. whats fun is running slow balanced game, run plays, and execute them vs good defenses. Now its just a shooting contest with defenses not giving a fuck.

physicality is still there

But that old game is super boring. Watch college ball for slow pace

I guess my bigger problem is the small ball , teams stretching the floor so the lanes are wide open, and teams not playing defense.

All of that is offensive friendly. The game has changed to just score score score and jack up threes and have open lanes all day bc of the small ball stretched out floor. Sick

Teams can counter small ball with big guys if they want to. But 3's are worth more than 2's

Physicality is not still here, come on. Especislly in the paint, players getting so many soft calls. Flagrant on green last night? Lol come on, u know its a soft league compared how it used to be. Players used to rumble and not even get ejected back in the day. Parish used to fight with laimbeer every game. The league just got very soft
