You are, but the defense is losing out on a chance at 4 more points in that very moment.

If you want to penalize the Seahawks yards when they get the ball back, fine, but there's no chance the team that fumbled should've gotten the ball back on the 1 haha

Any other time it goes out of bounds that late in a game, it's awarded back to the offense at the spot it was originally fumbled. I don't see why it should be different for a fumble into the back of the end zone.

Because a fumble out of bounds in the end zone is an automatic touchback?

It's easy to say that now because the ball was going to go out of the back of the endzone whether the Seahawks player touched it or not.  Him batting the ball really didn't have any effect on the outcome at all.  This would be a far bigger issue if the bat was more egregious.

If a Lions player was diving at the loose ball just one yard deep into the endzone, and a Seahawks player reaches in and punches it out of the back of the endzone, would you feel the same way?

Yes, (if there's no penalty) I'd think it was a smart play on his part to prevent a touchdown. That's what I was thinking as it happened last night, before I knew there was a penalty against that

I'm not really disagreeing, I just think that conceptually, the rule is necessary.  It should probably be tweaked, however.

terrible way to lose but thats not the only reason we lost. we're a terrible team. going to be 0-5 here soon but still have a lot of winnable games.

He's getting a high ride, but the shorts aren't preventing him from doing what he needs to do.

I think that if Carson Palmer was on the Bengals they would be a legitimate Super Bowl contender. Palmer is having a great year.

It feels like forever that he was on the Bengals throwing to Ochocinco

Dalton is playing better than Palmer so far this year, though.

Hoyer had at least 7 Mississippi's, and he still threw it right to a Colt.

The colts are so fortunate to play in the weakest division in football
