It was closer to like, 4 paragraphs.

And we did deserve to win that game.

So I just re-read my rant, and for the most part I still agree with it.

I started off by saying that Ridley was still down, and I still believe that. Like bware said at the time, had they called him down but challenged for a fumble, it wouldn't have been overturned. Got screwed over by NFL rules saying they should almost always call it a turnover since it will be reviewed anyways, but not being conclusive enough in either way to overturn.

Injuries really screwed us that game. Already missing Gronk, we lost Ridley (our starting RB), Love (our starting DT), Jones (our starting DE and only pass rushing threat), and Talib (our only good CB). I definitely remember now the Ravens picking apart Marquise Cole and Kyle Arrington, who were both playing out of position due to Talib's injury, and that's what set Flacco off. And since we lost our corner, we played more dime and nickel, which allowed Rice to run over our "half-practice squad" DL. We lost by 15, but I believe it was tied before Talib went out. Huge swing,

And finally, I somewhat correctly predicted the changes that we needed to do. I shockingly was right in saying we should dump Welker for Edelman (who was basically unknown to everyone not following the Patriots team), and that we needed to improve our defense. I said we needed another good LB (2nd round pick Jamie Collins says hello), and that we needed that top corner healthy. We re-signed Talib on a  year deal, and then replaced him with Darrelle the next. I still think if Talib was healthy that day all day, even setting aside the other injuries, that we still might have won that game. Losing Talib was huge

My response wasn't really that bad or homer-esque, to be honest. It just appeared that way due to how hard I was hyping up the Pats the week prior.

And the fact that you just refused to admit you were wrong or give the Ravens any credit lol

What do you mean by refusing to admit I was wrong? Obviously the Ravens won the game. They capitalized off of a terrible injured secondary. I still fully believe that if Talib didn't get hurt, and they didn't call the Ridley play a fumble, the Pats win that game. Brady forced the ball more than normal because he had to over-compensate the defensive struggles. Defense wins championships, and the Ravens had the far better defense that day.

I actually believe the being wrong part was about the patriots being favored by 10 ish in that game, which was a ridiculous spread

It was a 9.5pt spread. Its high, but not outlandishly high. We were 7pt favorites versus Indy and won by over 30 this last AFCCG. To say that the #1 scoring offense could win by 10 was not some ridiculous statement like you implied it was.

Hell, Baltimore won by 15. If they were the 9.5 favorite, it would have been covered!

Like, I understand the harsh criticism towards lines in CFB, where you see like Ohio St +41.5 versus Cal. Like, that's a crazy large number. To cover, you need to win by 6 TDs. But 10? Our seasonal average margin of victory was 12.4 then, with it at 10.8 the year before, and 9.9 while at home that year. The numbers said that on average, the Patriots would cover that game. Was it high? Yes, because it was a playoff game. Should have been around 5.5-6.5 in reality (not using hindsight to know the Pats lose the game). But the way you were stating it back then, it was as if the Patriots had no shot of winning by 10 at all.

9.5 in an NFL game, let alone a playoff game, is incredibly high

That might have been the most Lions play of all time.

Again, never once said it wasn't. I just said we could definitely still get it.

This.

Not to mention the Ravens beat the patriots earlier in the year, and Ray Lewis clearly had the team on an entirely new level in the playoffs. (They had just gone into Denver and beat the #1 seed). It should've been like a 3-5 point spread

The defense was definitely looking better, but they played a poor Indy offense that turned it over often, and then Denver lost that game, not Baltimore winning it. Hell, I'll even say Denver lost their game more than New England lost the next. If Moore was just half-competent and not allow Jones to go right past him on a situation that is literally designed to only stop that exact play, the Broncos are hosting the Pats the next wk. The D was better in the playoffs and they were all hyped around Ray but the Ravens win was more legitimate versus NE than it was versus DEN.

3rd and 1...just give it to the dude that got you to that point and start throwing with a fresh set of downs.

Nevertheless, double Z better get some goddamn carries in the coming weeks. With Abdullah and Zenner in toe, Joique Bell should cease to exist, and Riddick should only get the occasional third down snap.

Doesn't change that it was a ridiculous spread
