Just to pleasure you I took a look at the leaderboard for "xFIP" and saw Brandon McCarthy at #9. Needless to say I had seen all I needed to see.
McCarthy is a solid pitcher, no?

I just think people can find plenty of random stats to support their argument. If a pitcher is good, why won't his basic stats reflect that?

My comment was clearly trolling though haha, it's been a battle in the MLB section all year, Idk how much you've been around.

You need to bring back the Hyde avi btw haha
Because era doesn't completely tell how a good a pitcher is. Let's say a groundball pitcher has an infield filled with guys with no range, that pitcher's era will likely inflate, and he has no control of that.

Look at the Cards, Rangers, Rays, Oakland, etc. They just don't use basic stats to gauge a player's value and those teams have been successful for a while now.

The Mets asked the Red Sox about Cespedes and we're told they had to part ways with either Jacob De Grom or Zack Wheeler and ending the talks before it began lol.

Yes, he's a solid pitcher. When exactly did it become bad to be a #3 starter?

Mccarthy is very good
Happy with him as our 4 in a big park and with great defense behind him

Only had two seasons in his career he was under a 4 ERA. But he did do well in NY.
He's been able to put up respective peripherals for the past few years. He also had a 16.3% HR/FB ratio last year (career average is 10.3%). There's no way he puts up another year like that. And with a better infield behind him, he'll most likely put up a sub 4 era barring any injuries.

Jim Bowden thinks the Tigers will ultimately sign Scherzer. Hopefully it's true. Not too confident in our current rotation lol.
