Doing some homework on who the Pels could acquire to send out in the Asik deal today, I think they make a move for one of Shavlik Randolph, Keith Bogans, Scotty Hopson, or Miroslav Radulijica. My best guess is Randolph.

I had heard Scotty Hopson found out he was traded during last night's summer league game but that could just be a rumor.

ariza would be an ideal replacement.

Ariza should just finish his career on one year deals... He seems to only have a pulse during contract years.

I agree Mexi. I'm really excited to see how Bosh does as the #1 option again.

I'm such an idiot. Bosox you asked me yesterday how the Pelicans could absorb Gee's 3M contract. It's something I've been stressing since July 1st. You can cheat the cap by the way you enter the moves to the league office. Even though we traded for Asik on June 25th then traded for Gee on July 11th, we can send the Gee deal to the league office (I would bet this has already happened) before we send in the Asik deal. Since the Asik trade hasn't been made official yet, we still have 5-6M in cap space. That's how we absorbed Gee's deal, and we still have 2-3M to absorb another nonguaranteed deal, which should happen either today or tomorrow.

No, I get how Gee was acquired

It was more on how they could get Asik when you said it was a done deal to clear cap to get him

It seemed like contrasting moves

Early on the deal would have been Austin Rivers, Melvin Ely, Luke Babbitt, and either Jeff Withey/Alexis Ajinca going elsewhere for Asik.

Over the last week or so Dell has decided it is in the Pelicans best interest to keep Austin Rivers and even Babbitt, Withey, and Ajinca possibly. That's where Gee and another nonguaranteed deal comes in.

So now instead of losing Austin and those other guys, you're likely looking at the Pelicans sending out Gee, Ely, and another nonguaranteed deal. Depending on how much that deal amounts too, you still may lose someone like Babbitt but you get to keep the guys you want to keep in Rivers, Withey, and even Ajinca.

So Cleveland is going to make a 3 team deal with Houston then? Gee can't go to Nawlins and Houston because of the 30 day rule
