Just don't see how you see Parker and Exum as potential franchise players. I'm aware of the hype around Parker but I'm nearly done my own scouting on him (got two more games to watch defensively) and I don't get that same vibe at all. Very good offensive player, terrible defensive player. Weaknesses in his offensive game keep him from being a great offensive player. Not the makings of a franchise player. Good player, but not great player. Exum is so raw and lacks the basic knowledge of how to run an offense.

Nik Stauskas' shooting and vision will transfer, but that's the only think he'll be average or above average at. Will struggle to create offensively in the NBA, will struggle to finish against NBA length, won't be able to consistently turn the corner, etc. His defense is very poor, lacks NBA lateral movement to contain penetration. Not very active off the ball, short arms which doesn't allow him to contest shots all that well. Is very unaware off the ball, gets lost.

Could maybe agree with the Gordon placing, but McDermott's short comings will be all that much more visible. Harris I'm so so on. Gotta watch more on him. Was intrigued by him at first but after watching him he seems like a jack of all trades master of none.

Embiid has more potential than all of those 2nd tier stars you listed

Noah, George, etc.. I think his potential indicates he can have more of an impact than those types.

I got ya. You can give or take with those guys. Point I was making is that I don't think he'll ever be Hakeem, and I don't think Wiggins will ever be LeBron, Durant, etc.

You may not think Jabari Parker will BE a star but to say he doesn't have the potential to be one is ludicrous. By far the most offensively gifted player in the class

I can't disagree with anything you said, but I never said he doesn't have the potential to be one. He does as he works on his game, but I'm talking about where I feel he will end up. I wouldn't even say he will never be a star in terms of how the media or casual fan portrays a star.

According to Chad Ford Wiggins Embiid and Parker are 3 of the top 12 prospects to come out since 2000

That's interesting, I'll have to take a look at that.

I don't have no doubts that his offense will quickly translate. I don't want to go to far into it because I will be posting threads next week with my own personal evaluations, but I really love his offense. Other scouting reports I've read state that his shot selection needs improving because he settles for two many bad shots, such as the step back long twos, etc. Honestly I've never gotten that idea from watching him. Sure there are some bad shots there, but who doesn't take a bad shot every once and a while? It's not like he's running rampant out there.

Where the problem comes in from him, and we've had this conversation on the board a number of times, I don't think a "star" or franchise player can only be a one-way player. With Parker, he's as bad of a defensive player as he is a good offensive player. Like I said I don't want to go to far into it right now, but when I say bad I mean BAD. And it's more than just one issue, it's not just that he doesn't have the intangibles to be a good defender, but he also lacks the other things that makes you a good defender. You have guys that are bad defenders but they play hard every minute they're out there. He's not that guy.

Plenty of guys came into the league bad defenders. I think saying he can never become a good defender is completely ignorant

Ok. Doesn't change what he is right now.

We'll see if he improves substantially defensively, but I wouldn't expect it. Some guys just don't have it.

Though I will say the one thing he can improve on is his defensive IQ, which right now is as far down as it can go.

Like I said, plenty of guys came into the league and couldn't defend. And there's plenty of guys that shook that.

I kind of feel like that's a cop out though tbh. "Plenty of other guys have come into the league and couldn't defend but shook that." I'd venture to say there's also more guys who've come into the league and never made the necessary improvements. He'll improve, that's a given. But how much?

He's also bad enough that I wouldn't give him the benefit of the doubt. Lastly, you can only go off what you know right now.
