Tigers need someone to bat AFTER Miggy, not before.

Prince was the perfect protection guy.

This offseason, the Tigers have already added closer Joe Nathan to the fold, and now their attention may be turning to the middle-relief corps. As Tim Brown of Yahoo! tweets, Detroit may have its eyes on right-hander Joba Chamberlain, formerly of the Yankees.

The 28-year-old Chamberlain is coming off a 2013 in which he logged 4.93 ERA and 1.46 K/BB in 42 relief innings for the Yankees. For his career, he owns a 3.51 ERA out of the bullpen and a 4.18 ERA as a starter.

Chamberlain missed a full month because of an abdominal strain last season, and he of course also has Tommy John surgery in his recent past. As a rookie in 2007, Chamberlain looked like a present and future relief ace. However, whether because the Yankees shoehorned him into a starter's role or other reasons, he declined substantially in the seasons to come. With that said, Chamberlain makes sense as a low-cost reclamation project.

Yankees to sign veteran 2B Brian Roberts

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Yankees are likely to sign Brian Roberts.

There's no word on the terms, but it'll likely be a one-year deal with a low base salary. Roberts would give the Yanks another option at second base along with Kelly Johnson, as the two could form a platoon following the departure of Robinson Cano. The 36-year-old is obviously a poor bet to stay healthy after averaging just 48 games played over the last four seasons.

Sigh lol

Matt Thornton To Sign With Yankees

The New York Yankees have agreed to terms with Matt Thornton on a two-year deal worth $7 million.
Thornton, 37, pitched to a 3.74 ERA with 6.2 K/9, 3.1 BB/9 in 43 1/3 innings for the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox in 2013.

New York was in need of lefty reliever after Boone Logan signed with the Colorado Rockies.

Is it wrong to say the Yankees now own the best offense in baseball?

LF Gardner - SS Jeter - CF Ellsbury - 1B Teixeira - RF Beltran - C McCann - DH Soriano - 2B Johnson/Roberts - 3B Nunez

Probably not going to be the lineup even though that's what I'd personally do.

And than what lineup is better than this..?
