i wish i could get in dumars' mind. wtf is he thinking?

if we waived stuckey and amnestied charlie, id be all for this lin deal because its not really "long-term". but thats not the case. so what does this do for bk with stuckey and kcp? we also plan on going after kmart. wtf. why do we need all these guards?

I don't really believe in positions, especially on the wing.

skill set wise you have to. he doesnt have the skill set to play what the 3 should be. i still like him more than most, though. isnt he an rfa? because i wouldnt want to overpay for him, yet.

Report came out a few days ago that Sacramento will let him walk.

And I disagree. I think instead of asking "can he play SF" you should be asking "can he defend the open space? Can he defend on the perimeter? Can he pressure the perimeter? Can he help your bigs rebound? Can he attack off the dribble from the wing? Can he create for himself? Can he make open shots? Can he score in the post?" I think Evans checks off all those things.

We just witnessed the majority of teams playing three guards during the playoffs, and a Finals where both teams almost exclusively played three guard lineups. I mean what position did Danny Green play in the Finals? Gary Neal? Manu Ginobli?

Nah, not really. It's the questions that need to be asked to find out if a player is a capable wing player.

And to take it one step further, when teams talk about needs they don't talk about "we need a SF" or anything like that. They say "we need someone who can create off the dribble. We need someone who can shoot off the dribble, etc" When teams evaluate players, they evaluate them as basketball players and evaluate their skills. They don't evaluate them as a PG, or a SG, or a SF. Fans are obsessed with positions, but talent evaluators are not.

As @ESPNSteinLine reported, Pelicans will meet with Tyreke Evans late tonight. Told they will have an offer sheet in hand--a big one.

Well I think a big offer sheet could imply a lot of things. I think he's worth about 7.5 to 8 million a year, and I also think you would agree with me that teams like us (New Orleans and Detroit) may have to overpay a little to land impact players.
