Is Kyrie's defence as bad as everybody says though?

You think Kyrie could ever put together a 50/40/90 season?

It always looks like he's going to do it mid-season, but the last two years his percentages dipped in the 2nd half (injuries, poor conditioning). For a guy who puts up as many circus shots/high traffic layups as him, I doubt he'll get the 50% FG.

Yes.

Depends what you consider a superstar I guess.
Someone who has a immense impact on both ends of the court. I can't really think of any other logical way to consider it.

Trade exceptions really aren't a big deal.
Sure they are; the give cap flexibility.

A team can't give away a player to a team with cap space if they are over the cap themselves... unless they have an exception. This $10.3M exception is JUST large enough that we can next year trade away a Gerald Wallace without picking up any additional salaries. Yeah, nobody is going to take on just Wallace, but Boston has 9 1st rounders in 5 years to play with, including two in the star-studded draft of 2014. Would a team like Charlotte, who isn't competing for a title, has cap space but no shot at a max guy really, and could use more pieces, take on their former "face-of-the-franchise", along with #12 and #23 overall? Could very much happen.

Then you combine that with Humph's $12 expiring, Bogans' super-expiring $5M ($15.5/3 year deal, only Year 1 is guaranteed), a to-be expiring Brandon Bass, who teams might want if he comes with a 1st rounder.

That leaves as guaranteed contracts Rondo at $13M, Green at $9.2, Lee at $5.45, and Olynyk at $2.075. That's $29.075M in salary, and about $29M of cap room (aka a max contract+), with 6 1st rounders in 4 years.

I'm not saying "Oh yea Olynyk-Lebron-Green-Wade-Rondo" or something that unrealistic. We might not even do anything with the TPE or cap space or anything. But if after an uncompetitive year in Minnesota again, does Kevin Love want out, in which Boston becomes a very valuable trade asset (Minny trades Love for picks, doesn't need additional salaries). We could use that extra $15M to go after another big player in FA or via trading picks, or we can use that $15M to get additional depth, match Bradley's offer (whether QO or team offer), and actually have a semi strong team.

So to answer your question, the TPE could be a huge deal. Doesn't mean we will use it, or use it to our best advantages, but it is far from insignificant

most exceptions dont get used because theyre only valuable to the team holding them.

Exactly, I can remember a couple years back the Hornets had two or three big ones and they tried desperately to move all of them and they all expired.

The Clippers have had a real good offseason, but this would put a damper on it. Mullens is horrid.

he adds depth, which every team needs though. and with good coaching and other good players around him, he may be more of a positive.

I'm curious how much he got. If it came from the Clippers I'm guessing not alot.

interesting thought, but i say no
he'll get the 40/90 almost every year

but he takes too many shots and jumpers to get to 50% FG imo.
he's like a kobe who has shot 46%. i see kyrie doing more of what he did this year around 45-47%

I'm telling you, the jumpers aren't the reason he'll miss out. Guy puts up some crazy ass stuff around the basket lol. Looks rediculous when when he makes or misses.

He's going to win the MVP if the Cavs make the playoffs.
