Sigh.... Just let the season play out before we criticize what may happen with the team lol.

Green is an interesting case. Spacing will kill the Pistons this season, teams will pack the paint and make things difficult for Monroe and Drummond, all while allowing Jennings and Smith to jack up all the ill advised jumpers their hearts desire. And they will miss a lot.

Green would provide that, he is an excellent spot up shooter. But he also struggles offensively at the three. I think the Pistons need to move Monroe for a traditional three that can really space the floor.
I wouldn't say he struggles at the 3 offensively. He's not a go-to scorer at the SF position, but he has the game to play SF, 100%. He shouldn't be a teams number one option, which is why we should trade him out of Boston, because he will. In Detroit, he's probably the #3 or #4 option, behind Jennings, Smith, and maybe Drummond.

And what other SFs are out there? Chandler Parsons won't be moved, because Houston cannot give Monroe that contract (and Parsons is a perfect fit in the HOU offense). Gallo/Chandler won't be moved for Monroe, because Detroit won't get enough value in return to pull off the deal. Indiana doesn't have the money to trade Granger and extend Monroe, because of West there. Gay isn't being shopped. Kawhi is staying a Spur. There is no better option than Jeff Green for you guys

I don't think you want Jennings or Smith being your #1 or #2 options.

Which is the bad part, Monroe is probably capable of being a #2 option in his next contract.

thats what our team lacks is a go to guy. and i dont even think greg can get us that in a trade.

ideally we natch an offer sheet he signs and then we deal josh before his contract is up and we build around drummond, monroe, and a ready to start kcp.

I'm going to be completely honest, yall like to talk about how Dumars fucks up a good bit, and I assume yall are happy about the job he did this offseason, but I think you can just add this to the list of fuck ups for him. Adding Josh Smith when your two best players are both bigs made zero sense at the time, and adding another tweener who loves to chuck up shots in Brandon Jennings only made that deal worse. I think yall went from having a very good future to locking yallselves into mediocrity with those two moves alone.

I've said this a number of times, but I think this offseason was less about putting a winning product on the floor and more about putting money in your owners pockets. Like you said though, maybe a year and a half down the line yall move Smith.

He was just trying to save his job tbh. It's playoff or bust for the Pistons this year.

if he didnt improve the team then idk what youre thinking. he did. we're right out of the playoffs of not in. i agree about this being a fuck up though. i wanted no part of josh smith unless we dealt monroe. and that is fucking us too because we cant and wont get fair value.

he needed to put asses in the seats and he will do that, it wont be like we used to but we'll have more in attendance.

He improved expectations more than he improved the team, that's what I was alluding too.

no one is claiming this team is a championship squad at all. playoffs at best. is that a stretch? no.

Very "knicks" of the nets to retire JKidd's number before a preseason game

You really need to brush up on your reading comprehension or common sense if that's what you got out of what I said lol

you bash our off-season every time it comes up and then say we had something better going before. we didnt have a point guard, didnt have a two guard, didnt have a three, and most importantly we didnt have a winning team that made our owner money.

playoffs are playoffs. id love to see rings but at this point every fan was sick of us losing.

the way you talk about our team youd swear we're worse off. sure, salary wise. talent wise we arent at all.

Damn right I bash it every chance I get, because it was a terrible offseason. Giving Smith all the money yall gave him was pointless with Monroe and Drummond on board, and signing Jennings was just a terrible move all around that only made the Smith signing worse because those two will be a terrible match. By the time Drummond would be up for his second contract, this would have been a better team than it will be now. Yall sold a very bright future for first round playoff exits.

I'm sorry I care more about winning and competing than putting butts in the seats and making your owner money. As a fan, that is exactly where I should be coming from. And if I was you, I would take a few extra losses if it meant more wins in the future. Yall will be worse off in the future, and with your two best players being 23 or younger that is what counts.

And btw, I loved the KCP pick. You know how much I liked him.

And your offseason would have been significantly better if you had just signed Smith, or just signed Jennings, but there was absolutely zero reason to bring in both of those guys. Very Dumars esque.
