McHale went Asik at the 5 and Howard at the 4 for the last three preseason games. I'm hoping to see him try it out opening night. It apparently hasn't been a defensive issue.
offensively, it should be fine. Dwight is athletic enough to make it work

But defensively? I don't care if it hasn't been an issue yet, you're taking Dwight's #1 defensive strength and removing it by having him move around. Dwight is the most intimidating low post defender in the league, and I forgot where I saw the stats, but an Ind. Researcher noted that the percentage of opposing players driving to the basket and focusing low post shots when Dwight is on and off the court is the highest it's been since Laker Shaq. By having him at PF, all of that is gone

So why list Dwight at PF if he's just gonna play C?

There is no reason to have Asik at all, then. He doesn't provide offense really, cannot guard the 4, and his biggest strength (rebounding) isn't really needed when you have Dwight.

You should have a stretch 4 like Terrence Jones start with Howard, not Omer Asik

And a team with Asik and Howard pace wise is awful for Harden

Went to the Pels open practice today:

Couple of observations:
-Jrue Holiday will not put up the 18 and 8 he put up last season, but he will be a better player. Still needs to cut down on some of the turnovers though.
-Eric Gordon is finally looking like the Eric Gordon the Hornets signed to that max deal. Has great potential on both ends of the floor.
-Al Farouq Aminu seems to have developed a mid range jump shot, though his decision making still seems a little slow.
-Anthony Davis will be an All-Star this season.
-Greg Stiemsma sucks, though he has a sneaky good midrange jump shot.

I don't even get why you would consider starting Asik next to Dwight. If you let him back him up, which I know he won't like (but fuck, you're getting paid for this shit), they have something incredibly unique on their hands - an elite defensive presence in the paint for 48 minutes.

Apart from a way worse offense.

The Rockets will move Asik at some point. He's way too valuable of a trade chip.

Rockets will start casspi after like 3 games, just chill with asik

Casspi might even start opening night, who knows

Speaking of Casspi, Morey with another sneaky good acquisition. He'll have a nice year after disappearing the past few
