Nobody has more salary on the book in 2016 than Houston. And they still have to resign some guys. They aren't going to let Parsons walk for a chance to sign Durant two years down the line. Beverly, Smith, Motiejunas, Jones, Lin, Asik, all would be free agents before Durant.

They don't need Lin or Smith. Both should walk. They won't need Motie if he doesn't develop and/or learn to play defense. Beverly, I think, will be the PG in Houston for years to come. Asik will likely bolt unless McHale rolls with this Asik/Howard starting lineup. Of the players listed, I absolutely want Beverly and Jones back, but everybody else is very disposable.

Beverley is the PG of the future, based on what? Half a season of average play off the bench?

You're basing his value on his ppg, I suppose. This Rockets team doesn't need a high scoring PG. They need a guy who can drop 10-15 and pester the shit out of opposing PGs. Beverly can do that.

McHale went Asik at the 5 and Howard at the 4 for the last three preseason games. I'm hoping to see him try it out opening night. It apparently hasn't been a defensive issue.
