Portland has better perimeter defense than Houston, and TJ would get destroyed by Aldridge

James Harden got 25 FTs on Thursday because Memphis was constantly mauling people. Sometimes, their tough defense backfires on them.

Houston is definitely a threat to OKC/SA, whereas Portland won't be a top 4 team by the end of the season.

Batum doesn't maul anybody; he's just a great overall defender that can force Harden to do what he does best: chuck up low percentage shots.

Aldridge is a huge mismatch for Houston because he's very tough to guard, and D12/Asik are too slow to stay with him.

Jones would do fine against Aldridge. Aldridge went off last time because Jones was sick and in foul trouble. Aldridge went off when Jones went out of the game for good. Aldridge played over a quarter's worth of minutes with something named Omri Casspie trying to guard him.

For the record, people are really overrating Casspi's performance for Houston, so far. If he isn't scoring, he's an instant liability when he steps on the court.

God, I wish we still had Kyle. Perimeter defense instantly improved.

Top 8 PG in the league, right?

Maybe not, but I maintain that when I made those claims, he was playing extremely well.

Hopefully Monty just lets Davis, Anderson, Ajinca, Amundson, etc take their turns on Dwight tonight. I wouldn't aggressively double either, stay at home on shooters and let Dwight get his. 22% of his post ups end in turnovers.

That turnover rate has a lot to do with well-schemed doubles that Dwight doesn't see until it's too late.

Is it THAT well schemed or does Dwight just not have very good awareness...

Dwight has 63 turnovers in the post this season, and I just watched 35 of them.

Of the 35 turnovers, 30 of them (86%) came with no double team. Either the team didn't bring a double team, or he made his move before the team could bring a double team.

Of the 30, 20% he lost, 17% were offensive fouls, 13% he threw away, 13% he traveled on, and 10% he just walked out of bounds. Then a couple others I didn't categorize.

The 5 turnovers when a double was brought, two of them were just very poor vision on his part, one of them he dribbled into the double, one of them he lost, and one he traveled.

A bunch of non-offensive calls that they're calling for no reason, this year. So many flops, and they dropped the fines. I wonder if that's something Silver has implemented.

Pels core is good, and very young. Probably is once you get past them we're playing guys like Brian Roberts and Lou Amundson.
