Kiawanuka excelled this past season at DE, but the season before when he was at LB he wasnt contributing nearly as much.

Now if we are able to bring Plax back, then there would be a reason to make the deal, but I doubt Plax returns. Thats why Id be up for the trade.
Kiawanuka didn't fare too well in his first year as a LB...but it was his first year. I think he made great strides towards becoming an outstanding NFL player last season...and I expect him to continue that course regardless of position.

Jerry Reese wants Plaxico back & pretty much told the media that Burress is a Giant, will stay a Giant, and only needs to work out his legal issues before returning.

Expected to be the interior anchor for the Detroit Lions defensive front, free-agent tackle Grady Jackson has reached a three-year agreement with the team.

The deal for Jackson, who played the past three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, is worth $8 million.
I like seeing the Lions actually do some moves in the off-season before the draft. It`s a nice change, and Grady Jackson is a nice pick-up for them. He has done good for Atlanta the past 3 seasons, and hopefully that continues in Detroit.

Free agent Shawn Springs is expected to sign with the Patriots, according to the Providence Journal.

Springs can play both corner and safety, which fits the Patriots' profile. The 34-year-old probably preferred a chance to win over a big payday and New England was his best option. He's almost certainly going to be a starter.

Chiefs are acquiring a ton of people from the Patriots practice squad, an interesting one today was Darrel Robertson a LB. He played at Georgia Tech (Chan Gailey, our OC now was his coach). He played in the CFL last year in 2 games before put on the Pats practice squad.

A nobody but kinda interesting.

Ugh, going to miss Sean Jones in Cleveland. One of the best Safeties in the league if he is healthy, but he hasn't been recently. And the new management didn't want to re-sign anyone. Guess it was his time to go, I wish him the best of luck in Philly.

TRA THOMAS TO THE JAGS
Posted by Mike Florio on March 9, 2009, 10:24 a.m. EDT
http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/03/09/...as-to-the-jags/

The Eagles have lost another member of their starting lineup.

Left tackle Tra Thomas has agreed to terms with the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to a league source.

[UPDATE: A reader says that our friends at 1010XL radio in Jacksonville are reporting this one as well.]

Thomas, an 11-year veteran with the team, started 16 regular-season games as a rookie in 1998, and he started 16 regular-season games in his last year with the club.

In all, he appeared in 166 games, with 165 starts.

Patriots agreed to terms with CB Leigh Bodden on a one-year contract. NFL.com's Vic Carucci reports that the deal is worth $750,000.
After dealing Matt Cassel, the Pats' top priority was upgrading the secondary and they've executed. Bodden returns to a mostly man-to-man scheme after failing to adjust to Detroit's heavy zone. He flashed shutdown ability early in his career with Cleveland and is only 27. Bodden brings needed size (6'1/192) to New England and will compete to start. With Shawn Springs, Ellis Hobbs, and Bodden at corner, the Pats' pass defense looks much improved.

CIN signs Saftey Roy Williams
CINCINNATI (AP)—The Cincinnati Bengals have signed veteran safety Roy Williams, a five-time Pro Bowl player for the Dallas Cowboys.

The eighth-year NFL player was released in March by the Cowboys. He broke his right forearm in the second game last season and missed the next three. In his first game back, he broke it again.

The first-round draft choice from Oklahoma will be reunited with Mike Zimmer, the Bengals defensive coordinator and former Cowboy defensive coordinator.

Terms of the free-agent signing weren’t immediately available.
