When Brantley first hurt his shoulder, it really didn't look that bad. I'm surprised he's been out this long, but there is a possibility that he won't be back anytime soon.
Some say that no one should break the bank to bring in a catcher, but someone like Jonathan LuCroy is definitely worth bringing into any contending team. The Brewers should see what they can get for him this season. He is that good.
The Twins relieved Terry Ryan of his duties as their GM today. Some will be surprised by this move, others say it came too late.
Rob Antony will assume the helm.
No guarantees from this surgery. It is a lot different than TJ or shoulder surgery. They are much more "routine" now. All of these cases are different and all have different procedures done.
It will be great if he can come back.
I do not see the Sox having a winning record for the rest of the season, unless they make another move or 2 at the deadline. Their farm system, already pretty thin, is thinner now than it was, so they don't have a lot of chips to trade, unless they want to take on a lot of payroll. They are in...
Ichiro has had a hall of fame career, no doubt. He played 7 years in Japan, with 135-140 game seasons there. His 1300 hits there are not to be discounted, but the competition in Japan is not as good as the competition in MLB is.
Ichiro and Pete Rose are both great hitters and both deserve...
Unless there is an extension as part of the deal, I would not part with that much for Lucroy. He could bolt after this season or certainly after next year.
Giving up Devers might be a bit much. What does Milwaukee need? Just like every other team, they need starting pitching. How about Brian Johnson for Lucroy?
The Yankees have tried to piece together their 1B position since they lost Bird for the season. Parmelee did a nice job for them, but blew out his hammy. Tex could be done. Their current rotation could be OK.
This will be a long summer in the Bronx with no playoffs at the end.
As silly as it sounds, he actually has the ability to do well in it. He has 12 homers in less than 200 ABs in the past few years.
What does everyone think?
I like to see where the best kids go and I watch who the Twins draft. Unfortunately, I have a previous engagement Thursday evening. As mayor of my little town, and an officer on the fire department, I have to attend a meeting.
Will Shields be able to be effective at US Cellular Field? Will Tatis and Johnson do well for the Padres? Neither question is easily answerable at this time.
