This s a great move for him. No expectations for this year. He gets a chance to work things out against major league hitters without being booed unmercifully. If he gets it back, so much the better. Cincinnati is a great baseball town.
A flare to right, but it counts just as much as a screaming liner. I'm sure he'll take it.
Congratulations to one of the best hitters in the history of the game.
Fernando Romero did a nice job today in his major league debut. The Twins won a ballgame for the first time in what seems like a month. Odorizzi goes tomorrow against the White Sox in Chicago.
Corey Seager is out for the rest of 2018 -- Tommy John surgery, per MLB Network. Fortunately for the Dodgers, they have a lot of depth, but this is still going to hurt them a lot.
By the time the A's get good, unless they have a new ballpark and the increase in revenue that will bring them, they won't be able to keep their players for long. Their window will likely be very short.
A 20 year old man was charged with criminal mischief and reckless driving after damaging the field. Minor league groundskeepers are getting together to repair the damage and make some improvements to the field. It will be interesting to see what they do, as I visit the field occasionally...
I have to wonder if someone couldn't invent a wrist guard for hitters that would allow them to maintain their normal swing while protecting them from what Freeman has suffered with the past couple of years.
I believe I will get right on that. I could use an infusion of cash into my bank account...
There is a thought that if a starting pitcher is suspended, he should miss at least 2 starts. The way things are going now, many teams are able to juggle their rotations so that the starter won't miss any actual starts.
Thoughts?
Not sure it was the pitching. The weather was horrible. Just glad everyone came out healthy. Kudos to the training staffs of both teams. It would have been really easy to blow out a hamstring or a groin muscle. The pitchers could have easily torn up their elbows or shoulders.
I don't know about being a "lock" for the Hall, but he certainly hits a lot of the markers that the voters look at. Career BA is .309, OBP .393, Slg .444. He is a plus defender at 1B and was also a plus defender as a catcher. If he can continue to hit over the next few seasons (I would say...
I saw Berrios pitch his first game in the Midwest League a few years back. He was dominant there also. It was obvious that he was going to make it to the majors.
10 years ago, the slide would have been no big deal. Today, it was a sort of dirty slide. If I can give the Red Sox hitters some advice -- Don't dig in too much tonight. Stay loose in the batters' box.
